PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buddy Huber (ranked 25701 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Studd (ranked 6868 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buddy Huber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Studd!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Huber shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Studd tries to get to full guard but Huber has control of the leg.
Studd is trying to control but can't.
Studd keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Huber will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Studd wants to sweep but Huber has passed to side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
You can see the frustration on Studd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Studd tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Huber wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Studd is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Huber is controlling him well.
Huber is staying tight to Studd's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Huber decides to stand back up. Huber steps back and let's Studd get back to his feet.
John Studd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Studd instigates a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Huber tries to score a body lock takedown but Studd shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Studd gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Huber trying to hold on to Studd's head to control him but Studd postures up.
Huber really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Huber is controlling Studd's trapped leg to prevent Studd from advancing to side control.
Studd thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Studd missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Huber looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Huber is trying to maintain the position but Studd is very close to passing his half guard.

Studd seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Huber is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). John Studd!
