Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Krzysztof Sobieski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel North (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Krzysztof Sobieski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Angel North! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! North tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sobieski swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sobieski feints and as North raises his hands in defense, Sobieski changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Sobieski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sobieski stops North from standing up. Sobieski throwing strikes but missing. North controls Sobieski momentarily but Sobieski frees himself. Sobieski lands a couple of digs. Sobieski landing with the ground and pound. North tries to land a sweep but no joy. Sobieski prevents North from getting back to his feet. Sobieski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sobieski stops North from standing up. Sobieski wants to control from the top but North keeps moving. North is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sobieski lands a couple of elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sobieski postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. North keeping full guard, as Sobieski tries to pass. Sobieski connects with a couple of short punches. North pulls Sobieski in close to his closed guard and prevents Sobieski from doing any damage or advancing position. North wants to stand but Sobieski is controlling the position. North looks gassed! Sobieski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sobieski thows a big elbow that misses. North wants to get back to his feet but Sobieski is in a dominant position and won't allow it. North utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Sobieski lands a couple of elbows. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if North can do anything to dispel that myth.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Sobieski tries to close the distance and clinch but North swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Sobieski misses with a takedown attempt - North sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nice sprawl there from Sobieski as North shoots in. Sobieski shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and North holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Sobieski looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krzysztof Sobieski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sobieski stalls. Sobieski has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. North is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sobieski letting North take a breather here. Sobieski will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning North up against the cage. North escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Sobieski distracts North with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Sobieski is working North over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sobieski content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. North pushes Sobieski off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Sobieski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. North has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sobieski tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. North smiles and moves away.
Sobieski has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Sobieski there as he acknowledges the shot. Sobieski scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Ground and pound from Sobieski. Sobieski winds up and cracks North with a swinging punch to the side of the head. North pushes Sobieski off and gets back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! North tries to clinch up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sobieski connects with a nice short shot to North's temple. North wants to control but Sobieski is keeping busy.

That's one minute gone in the round. Sobieski tries to pass the half guard into mount. North knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sobieski tries to clinch up. North keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Sobieski tries for a takedown but North sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krzysztof Sobieski. That's going to take a lot out of him. North gets a clinch. North breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Sobieski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says North as he avoids it easily. North wants to clinch up but Sobieski keeps it at a distance. Sobieski fails with the takedown. North stuffs the takedown. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sobieski. North fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sobieski, pushing him back against the cage.

Sobieski could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Sobieski darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Sobieski not landing any meaningful shots this time. Sobieski seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Sobieski is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. North is staying active underneath Sobieski, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sobieski stops North from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. North wants to sweep but no luck. North wants to stand up but Sobieski is controlling him. North has control of Sobieski's left arm, preventing Sobieski from doing any damage. North is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Sobieski shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has North pinned against the cage. North gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. North shoots in for a double leg but Sobieski sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sobieski misses with a takedown attempt and North counters with a one-two to the body. Nice takedown defense from North. No joy for Sobieski on that attempt. Nice sprawl there from North as Sobieski shoots in. Both fighters are breathing heavily. North lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

North stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Sobieski looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. North is trying to stand.
North wants to control but Sobieski is keeping busy.
Sobieski is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. North has one foot on Sobieski's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. North tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sobieski swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by North or perhaps it was just good defense by Sobieski which made him look bad. North jabs Sobieski right on the nose. Sobieski blinks but takes it well. Sobieski doesn't succeed with the takedown and North counters with a stiff right hand. Sobieski closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming North to the mat! North manages to get full guard. Sobieski with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. North keeping moving, preventing Sobieski from controlling successfully. North looking to control.
Sobieski wants to control from the top but North keeps moving. Sobieski stops North from standing up. Krzysztof Sobieski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. North is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sobieski has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sobieski scoring with strikes to the body and head. Sobieski working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Sobieski stalling. Angel North has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Sobieski working North over with strikes.
