Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Irwin (ranked 3952 p4p, 372 weight class) and Liu Pao (ranked 22216 p4p, 671 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ethan Irwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Liu Pao!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Irwin misses.
Pao doesn't manage to clinch there - Irwin circles away.
Irwin leaves Pao with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Irwin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Pao.
Irwin will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Irwin tries a head kick but it misses.
Pao shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Irwin sprawls well. Irwin wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pao gets slowly back to his feet.
Ethan Irwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liu Pao.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pao pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Irwin slips a jab and a cross from Pao.
Irwin throws a nice inside leg kick.
Pao checks the leg kick.

Irwin bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Pao has managed to clinch.
Irwin gets underhooks to prevent Pao's takedown attempt.
Irwin misses with a hook from the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Irwin.
Pao is looking for a takedown.
Irwin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pao tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Irwin swivels and escapes.
Pao shoots in looking for a takedown but Irwin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pao's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Irwin.
Irwin lands a jab to Pao's midsection.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pao tries to clinch up
and Irwin counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Liu Pao has been cut.
Irwin looks to throw the jab but Pao is out of range.
Pao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Irwin is fending him off so far but Pao persists. Nope, Irwin circles away and we're back to standing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pao fails with a takedown attempt.
A jab lands there for Irwin.
Liu Pao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Irwin's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pao under the eye.
Pao dives in and grabs Irwin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Irwin pushes down on Pao's head and hops out.
Irwin lands a big right hand that sends Pao crashing to the mat! Irwin stays standing though and waves Pao back to his feet!
Pao is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Irwin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pao has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Pao is still on wobbly legs! Can Irwin finish him?
Irwin throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Pao crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ethan Irwin!
