Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sofoklis Aristotelis (ranked 5395 p4p, 191 weight class) and Maximo Jefe (ranked 4787 p4p, 165 weight class). 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Maximo Jefe! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aristotelis forces Jefe back against the cage and clinches. Jefe wants a takedown.
Aristotelis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Jefe looking for a takedown. Aristotelis tries to work over Jefe's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Aristotelis lands an elbow just above Jefe 's eye. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Aristotelis just misses with a elbow thrown towards Jefe's brow. Jefe leaning against his opponent.

Jefe jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Aristotelis walks away with a smile on his face. Jefe gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Aristotelis gets in close and instigates a clinch. Jefe can't get the takedown.

Aristotelis closes the distance and clinches. Jefe wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Aristotelis has him pressed against the cage. Aristotelis lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Jefe avoids the elbow strike from Aristotelis, against the cage.
Jefe jumps guard but Aristotelis stands there with Jefe around his waist. Jefe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Aristotelis closes the distance and clinches. Aristotelis can't find room to land a body shot as Jefe controls the action.

Jefe is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Aristotelis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jefe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jefe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Jefe tries to move to mount but Aristotelis blocks the move with his legs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aristotelis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jefe paws at him with a jab and circles away. Horrible takedown attempt by Jefe or perhaps it was just good defense by Aristotelis, which made it look bad. Aristotelis darts in and clinches Jefe up against the cage. Jefe tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Aristotelis has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Aristotelis looks to throw an elbow but misses. Jefe is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Aristotelis fails in his attempt to clinch. Aristotelis tries to clinch but Jefe moves out of range. Jefe avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Jefe tries to get to full guard but Aristotelis has control of the leg. Jefe trying to control from the bottom.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jefe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Aristotelis kicks Jefe off and gets back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
