PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Arbi Amagov (ranked 4306 p4p, 391 weight class) and Johnny Ringo (ranked 4321 p4p, 392 weight class). Amagov comes to the cage accompanied by Raphael Lake - Vertigo. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arbi Amagov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johnny Ringo!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amagov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Amagov looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Amagov connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
A punch combination from Ringo misses.
Amagov changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Amagov slips a jab and a cross from Ringo.
An attempted straight right counter from Amagov misses the target.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ringo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Amagov jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ringo misses with a body shot.
Ringo fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
It looked like Amagov was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Ringo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Amagov counters with a one-two to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amagov throws a shot from downtown. Ringo moves away and avoids it.
Ringo throws a predictable looking body shot
and Amagov counters with a good, hard body kick but Ringo shrugs it off.
Ringo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Amagov's waist but Amagov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ringo off to one side.
Amagov appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Amagov looks to land a combination but Ringo avoids it well.

Ringo closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Amagov wants a takedown but no success here.

Amagov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Amagov wants to pass the guard but Ringo is keeping the position.

Ringo is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Amagov presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Ringo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ringo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Ringo throws a quick inside leg kick.
Amagov chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Ringo can pounce on him.
Amagov misses with a wild body shot.
Ringo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Amagov lands a slapping body shot.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Amagov.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ringo works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ringo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Amagov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
It looked like Amagov wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Amagov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ringo.
Ringo tries to clinch but Amagov is having none of it.
Ringo misses with a double jab
and Amagov makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ringo thuds a left hand into Amagov's body.
Ringo moves into range and connects with a jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Amagov, as that shot connected.
Ringo wants to clinch

and Amagov counters with a shoot takedown. Ringo fights it but they end up in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ringo wants to sweep here but Amagov controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Amagov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ringo keeping moving, preventing Amagov from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Arbi Amagov will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Arbi Amagov is winning the standup battle so far.
Amagov is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ringo comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Ringo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Amagov is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Amagov wants to get back to striking at distance but Ringo won't allow it.
Amagov can't get the takedown.

and Amagov counters with a straight right hand.

Amagov drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ringo looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ringo looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ringo!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Amagov tries to bench press Ringo off him but Ringo keeps the position.

Ringo tries for a kimura but Amagov is defending well.
Amagov tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ringo presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Ringo working for a submission but Amagov is keeping him at bay.
Amagov is working to get back to half guard.
Amagov tries to hold on but Ringo pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ringo loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Amagov scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Ringo land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Ringo stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Ringo!
Johnny Ringo decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
In defeat, Arbi Amagov stepped up to the mic, saying 'I would like to congratulate my opponent, tonight was his night. I'm disappointed with the outcome of the fight. I need to reevaluate my training so that I can get back on the right track.'.
