PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ebyn Dall (ranked 496 p4p, 54 weight class) and Alejandro Sepulveda (ranked 911 p4p, 98 weight class). Dall comes to the cage accompanied by Under the Blood. Sepulveda has chosen Llorando se Fue as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ebyn Dall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Alejandro Sepulveda!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sepulveda scores with the left hand. Dall knows he should have avoided that one.
Sepulveda darts in looking for a takedown but Dall gets double underhooks and turns Sepulveda into the cage.
Dall is looking to counter with head kicks.
Sepulveda throws a head kick but Dall moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Dall on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Sepulveda's coach down at LOD-Guts & Glory Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Sepulveda's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Dall needs to keep his hands up - Sepulveda had a free shot at his head there.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Dall, as that shot connected.
Sepulveda uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Dall.
Dall throws a series of punches but Sepulveda moves out of range.
Sepulveda throws a fast counter high kick but Dall manages to duck under it in time.
The crowd cheers as Dall lands an impressive looking overhand right. Sepulveda doesn't seem phased though.
Dall avoids the body shot from Sepulveda.
Sepulveda throws a looping overhand right but Dall ducks down to avoid it.
Dall feinted with a counter takedown.
Dall misses the shot to the body.
Dall tries a head kick but it misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Sepulveda! But no joy.
Sepulveda goes for a double leg but Dall avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dall continues to drive forward.
Dall appears to be looking for a big counter.
Dall ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sepulveda moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Dall tries to move into range but Sepulveda moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Sepulveda connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Dall connects with a high kick.
Alejandro Sepulveda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dall connects with a crisp jab.
Sepulveda shoots for a takedown but Dall saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ebyn Dall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alejandro Sepulveda.
Dall bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sepulveda lands a lovely overhand right.
Sepulveda avoids the body shot from Dall.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sepulveda, right into the meat.
Sepulveda tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've been hearing reports that Dall has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Sepulveda takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sepulveda. Dall does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dall is looking to counter with head kicks.

Dall throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sepulveda tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dall is in Sepulveda's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sepulveda wants to sweep here but Dall controlling him for the moment.

Sepulveda is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dall wants to pass the guard but Sepulveda is keeping the position.

Dall has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sepulveda is proving hard to escape from.
Sepulveda can't keep his opponent in guard - Dall advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Sepulveda wants to control but Dall is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Sepulveda won't allow Dall to pass to mount.
Sepulveda is trying to control but Dall passes into side control!

Dall decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sepulveda avoids the body shot from Dall.
Dall misses with a wild body shot.
Dall avoids the head kick by Sepulveda.

Sepulveda gets the takedown into side control.
Sepulveda is looking to take a break and control but Dall is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sepulveda tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sepulveda has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dall manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Dall wants to get back to full guard but Sepulveda has mounted him!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ebyn Dall dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Sepulveda dodges the punch combination from Dall.
Sepulveda's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Dall connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sepulveda scrambles back to his feet.
Sepulveda avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Sepulveda throws a front kick aimed at Dall's knee but Dall avoids it well.
Sepulveda tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dall was well out of range. Poor timing from Sepulveda.
Ebyn Dall is winning the standup battle so far.
Dall throws a jab but it's blocked by Sepulveda.
Sepulveda throws a jab when Dall was well out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dall lands with a thumping leg kick.
Dall ducks under a wild hook from Sepulveda.
Dall defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sepulveda.
Dall was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Sepulveda throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Dall counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sepulveda takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Sepulveda loads up on a big right hand but Dall slips the punch.
Dall takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Sepulveda misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dall misses with an uppercut. Sepulveda saw that one coming.

and Dall counters with a nice uppercut.
Dall avoids the body shot from Sepulveda.
Dall scores with a head kick. Sepulveda tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A decent looking cross lands there for Dall.
Sepulveda gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Dall counters with a huge left! Sepulveda is in big trouble! He's backing up but Dall isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Sepulveda from any more damage. A dominating finish by Dall!

During a confident post fight interview, Ebyn Dall thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
