The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downem steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Nakamura. That one must have hurt.

Downem darts in and clinches Nakamura up against the cage.
Nakamura throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Nakamura escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nakamura moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Nakamura throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A big right from Nakamura misses.
Downem wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Downem takes the fight into the clinch.
Nakamura tries to stall but Downem uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Downem decides to pull guard.
Nakamura wants to stand and escape but instead Downem has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Nakamura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Downem. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Downem is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nakamura throws an elbow but it misses.

Nakamura breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Downem has closed the distance and engaged Nakamura in a clinch.
Downem doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Nakamura wants to get back to striking at distance but Downem won't allow it.
Downem tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Downem struggles to land a body shot inside as Nakamura controls his hands.

Nakamura gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Downem.

Downem jumps guard and drags Nakamura to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Nakamura wants to stand and escape but instead Downem has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Downem postures up in Nakamura's guard and throws a big left but Nakamura blocks it.
Downem pushes down on Nakamura's leg and manages to get into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Downem passes to full mount!
Nakamura wants to hold on but Downem pushes him away.
Downem throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Downem takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Downem prevents Nakamura from getting the reversal.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nakamura tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Downem changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nakamura tries to avoid it but Downem manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nakamura to the ground. Nakamura escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Downem decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Downem goes for a double leg but Nakamura avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Nakamura continues to drive forward.

and Downem counters by moving into the clinch.
Nakamura wants to get back to striking at distance but Downem won't allow it.

Nakamura has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

A head punch on the inside from Downem fails to land.

Downem's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nakamura connects with a single shot there.
Downem swats away the attempt to clinch by Nakamura.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Nakamura.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nakamura is looking to get back to his feet here but Downem is keeping cool and he's managed to take Nakamura's back.

Nakamura moves in looking to clinch but Downem pushes him off.
Downem throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Nakamura's waist but Nakamura gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Downem off to one side.

Downem closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nakamura did well to prevent Downem getting side control.
