Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruiser Banks (ranked 6354 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Wight (ranked 6686 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bruiser Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Wight!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Banks clinches up against the cage.
Banks can't get the takedown.

Wight breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wight fails with a takedown attempt.
Banks throws a head kick but Wight moves out of range.
Banks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Banks is looking to clinch but Wight is avoiding it.

Banks gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Wight pulls guard.
Banks trying to control the position from guard on top but Wight is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Banks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Banks is looking to stand up but Wight won't let him.
Wight seems keen to control Banks's posture.
Wight looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Banks puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Wight wants to improve his position but Banks is controlling well.
Wight wants to control but Banks is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Banks decides to stand and escape the position.
Wight changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banks tries to avoid it but Wight manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banks to the ground. Banks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Banks half committed to a counter leg kick.

Wight has managed to clinch.
Banks fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Wight has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Banks uses from the top position.

Wight has his foot on Banks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Banks works his way back into a safe position though.
Wight is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Banks is controlling him.
Banks trying to control but Wight is working from the bottom.

Wight is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Banks is aware though and is defending well.
Banks is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Wight tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wight trying to keep a closed guard but Banks is proving a slippery customer.

Wight is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Wight looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Banks trying to control the position from guard on top but Wight is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Banks engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Banks has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Banks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wight swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Banks uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wight.
Banks fails to land with a series of punches.
It seemed like Wight was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Banks tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wight was well out of range. Poor timing from Banks.

Banks has closed the distance and engaged Wight in a clinch.
Wight is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruiser Banks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wight is trying to pull guard but Banks turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Banks tries to stall but Wight uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Banks jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wight walks away with a smile on his face. Banks gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wight is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Wight drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Banks wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Bruiser Banks will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Banks shoots in but Wight avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Banks displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wight.
Bruiser Banks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Banks fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Wight wants to clinch

and Banks counters with a shoot takedown. Wight fights it but they end up in guard.
Wight is adopting a defensive guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wight has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Banks is working away from the top position though.
Wight might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Banks haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Banks is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wight looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Banks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wight is looking for a sweep. Banks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wight is still trying to improve position.

Banks seems to be working for a kimura but Wight defends the submission attempt.
Wight is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Banks throwing shots but Wight is blocking nicely.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Banks lands with a slapping head kick.

Wight decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wight seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Banks wants to control but Wight is keeping busy.
Wight looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Banks with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Banks wants to control the action here but instead Wight manages to pass to full mount!

It looks like Bruiser Banks has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Banks is looking to get to half guard.
Wight controlling the pace for now.
Wight lands a couple of good shots and Banks has given up his back, trying to escape the position!


Bruiser Banks's cut is getting worse.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Wight controlling the positon.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Paul Wight will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Bruiser Banks's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Banks darts in looking for a takedown but Wight gets double underhooks and turns Banks into the cage.

Wight stuffs the takedown attempt from Banks. Banks gets slowly back to his feet.

Banks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wight keeps working.
Wight trying to hold on to Banks's head to control him but Banks postures up.
Wight is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Banks is staying active.
Wight is looking to escape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A nice inside leg kick there by Banks. That's going to slow Wight down.

Wight closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Banks did well to prevent Wight getting side control.

Bruiser Banks's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Wight seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Banks does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
