Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Avery Sanders! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Johnson! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sanders's half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sanders does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Johnson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Sanders regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Johnson. Sanders has his feet on Johnson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Sanders shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Johnson rushes Sanders and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Sanders looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Sanders just misses with a elbow thrown towards Johnson's brow. Sanders working hard to break the clinch. Sanders throws an elbow but it's blocked.

That's one minute gone in the round. With the fighters up against the cage, Sanders throws an elbow but misses. Sanders pressing his opponent against the cage. Johnson breaks the clinch.
Johnson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sanders's head. Sanders shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Sanders keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Sanders, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Sanders against the cage but Sanders circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Johnson cracks Sanders with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Sanders shows good takedown defense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanders closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Avery Sanders. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Sanders, before circling back to the center of the mat. Johnson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Johnson cracks a nice hook into Sanders's ribs. Sanders shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense. Johnson scores with a takedown into Sanders's guard. Sanders is looking to stand up but Johnson isn't so interested in that idea. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sanders works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanders wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position. Sanders avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Johnson throwing strikes from guard but Sanders blocks nicely. Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Sanders gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Johnson wants to hit a switch here but Sanders passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Johnson there! Sanders landing shots from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanders lands a heavy elbow. Sanders prevents Johnson from getting the reversal. Sanders lands a big elbow. Johnson tries to lock up and control but Sanders gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Sanders lands with some strikes. Johnson looks winded! Sanders punishing his opponent with strikes. Sanders dominating with strikes here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sanders controlling the pace for now. Sanders with a couple of short strikes. Sanders scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Johnson?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Avery Sanders dominated that round. That's time! Sanders's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
No luck for Johnson with that takedown attempt. Sanders stuffs the takedown. Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Sanders sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Avery Sanders has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tommy Johnson. Johnson scores with a three punch combo!
Johnson misses the jab. Johnson shoots in and gets a takedown into Sanders's guard. Sanders is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Johnson throws a strike but Sanders rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sanders drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sanders jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Sanders lands a couple of decent looking shots. Johnson is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanders controlling from the top position. Sanders prevents Johnson from getting back to his feet. Sanders is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Sanders with a nice head shot there. Sanders scoring with punches to the head and body. Sanders wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving. Sanders cracks Johnson with a solid left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sanders gets to his feet - Johnson follows without any prompting. Sanders closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnson did well to prevent Sanders getting side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth. Sanders working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Johnson throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Sanders scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Johnson has hold of Sanders's hands but Sanders slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Sanders working the head and body with strikes. Johnson throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Sanders manages to pass to side control. Sanders grinds an elbow into Johnson's temple.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanders controlling from side mount. Sanders working the ground and pound from side control. Sanders controlling the position. Johnson tries to strike but it doesn't land. Johnson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Sanders just content to control the position. Johnson is trying to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Sanders in side control lands a decent elbow. Sanders controlling the position. Johnson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Sanders looks up at the clock and then as Johnson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sanders smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Johnson wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Check out the look on Sanders's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Sanders takes a little break here. Johnson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Avery Sanders dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

As Johnson tries to get set, Sanders tries to push him back and clinch up but Johnson manages to avoid the attempt. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Sanders shows good takedown defense. Sanders looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Sanders persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing. As Sanders backs off Johnson throws a huge counter combo but Sanders manages to avoid it all. Sanders avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sanders fails to land the takedown. Sanders looks for the body kick but Johnson saw that one coming. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanders shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Avery Sanders. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanders fails with the takedown and Johnson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Tommy Johnson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanders shoots for a takedown but Johnson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sanders takes a body punch but keeps moving. Johnson scores with a punch to the head. Sanders slaps away a takedown attempt from Johnson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nice cross by Johnson. Sanders defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johnson. Nice sprawl there from Johnson as Sanders shoots in.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanders throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanders off to one side. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Sanders is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Johnson can do to turn this around? Johnson connects with a leg kick. Sanders looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Johnson is looking to chop away at Sanders's legs. As Johnson looks to move away, Sanders throws a big counter combo but Johnson just gets out of the way. Johnson closes the distance and pushes Sanders back into the cage. Sanders swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Sanders dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Johnson avoids a wild elbow strike from Sanders. Sanders has a couple of punches blocked by Johnson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Sanders looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well. Johnson has a takedown stuffed. Sanders tries to counter by clinching up but Johnson breaks away and moves out of range. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanders as he avoids it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Sanders closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away. Sanders scores with a takedown into Johnson's guard. Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sanders. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Sanders's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Johnson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Johnson striking off his back but it's not causing Sanders any problems. Sanders cracks Johnson with a solid left hand. Sanders scoring with some ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sanders working some strikes from top position. Sanders stands up over Johnson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Tommy Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Avery Sanders is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Sanders is stalling in the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Tommy Johnson. I think Sanders has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
