Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Short McSmall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quick Joe! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McSmall throws a combination. Joe tries to block but a couple of punches get through. A punch lands to the side of Joe 's head but he takes it in his stride. McSmall connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Joe takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. McSmall could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. McSmall scores with a nice head shot. McSmall with a nice cross. Joe takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Joe takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. This has been an exciting period of action! Joe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McSmall. Joe stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McSmall. Joe takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joe's hands are dropping dangerously low here and McSmall connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Joe scrambles back to his feet. A swing and a miss from McSmall. McSmall fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. McSmall scores with a slapping inside leg kick. McSmall looks to land a combination. Joe sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. McSmall throws a leg kick and Joe counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Joe with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. McSmall is trying to stand back up but Joe is controlling him
That's two minutes gone in the round. McSmall trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Joe manages to pass to mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Joe content just to control the position here. McSmall is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. McSmall wants to hold on but Joe pushes him away. McSmall is looking to improve his position but Joe isn't that keen on the idea. Joe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McSmall is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. McSmall tries to hold on but Joe pushes him away. Joe sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Short McSmall dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
McSmall moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. McSmall jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
McSmall thuds a left hand into Joe's body. McSmall misses with the combination.
Joe appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. McSmall throws a series of strikes that have Joe backpedaling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McSmall lands with a kick to the ribs.
McSmall scores with a shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice leg kick lands there from McSmall. McSmall getting the better of the striking in that exchange. McSmall throws a head kick that misses. Joe let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. McSmall lands a high kick!
McSmall is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Joe can do to turn this around? McSmall tests Joe's chin there with a solid looking shot. McSmall looks to land a left hand but Joe moved out of range nicely. McSmall scores with a jab to the head.
Joe moves out of range as McSmall throws a body kick.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Joe! But no joy. McSmall throws a shot to the body.
McSmall lands a right hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McSmall bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. McSmall swinging wildly here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Joe avoids the head kick by McSmall.
Joe feints a counter leg kick. McSmall lands a jab to the head.
McSmall scores with a three punch combo!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Joe walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. McSmall cracks Joe with a good jab. McSmall misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McSmall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Good leg kick by McSmall there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting McSmall here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. McSmall connects with a body shot. McSmall wants to land a leg kick but Joe is out of range. Joe was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. McSmall thows a leg kick but Joe checks it and Joe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Joe. McSmall trying to keep a closed guard but Joe is proving a slippery customer.
Joe is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Quick Joe has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joe stands and throws McSmall's legs to the side, diving into side control. Joe is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down McSmall's shoulder. That is not cool. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Short McSmall dominated that second round. That's time! McSmall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Joe gets cracked with a nice right hand there by McSmall. A head kick misses from McSmall. Joe drops down looking to force a counter takedown but McSmall defends it well. Joe avoids the head kick by McSmall.
McSmall fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Joe manages to avoid it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Joe takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. McSmall throws a hook but Joe avoids it easily. Short McSmall is winning the standup battle so far. McSmall misses with a straight left. Joe changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. McSmall pulls out of a head kick attempt.
McSmall throws a wild combination but nothing lands. McSmall misses with a double jab.
McSmall throws a leg kick and Joe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Joe. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Joe showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Joe prevents McSmall from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Joe's corner is telling him to maintain position. Joe's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McSmall lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. McSmall throws a sloppy head kick and Joe moves out of range easily. Joe ducks under a wild hook from McSmall. McSmall works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. McSmall lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Joe showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McSmall.
Joe now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Joe takes a head kick and keeps coming.
McSmall swings for the body but Joe moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Joe on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Joe has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye. McSmall scores with a jab. McSmall thuds his shin into the meat of Joe's side. McSmall throws a head kick but Joe moves out of range.
It seemed like Joe was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. McSmall will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McSmall throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Joe counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Quick Joe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! This has been an exciting period of action! Joe frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Short McSmall showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for McSmall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
