Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roscoe Cleveland! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phil Johnston! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cleveland fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Johnston shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Johnston was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Johnston throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Johnston has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Johnston tries to advance to mount but Cleveland denies him. Cleveland manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Johnston tries to roll over but Cleveland keeps him under control. Johnston is trying to stand.
Johnston is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cleveland's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cleveland's back! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Johnston missing with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnston tightening his grip on Cleveland, looking for the choke. Johnston has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Cleveland wants to escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cleveland breaks Johnston's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Cleveland trying to control but Johnston is working from the bottom. Johnston is trying to control the position but Cleveland postures up. Cleveland with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnston thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Cleveland trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnston is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnston seems keen to control Cleveland's posture. Johnston not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cleveland makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Johnston throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Johnston wants to stand but Cleveland is controlling the position. Cleveland postures up in Johnston's guard and throws a big left but Johnston blocks it. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Johnston throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Phil Johnston seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnston closes the distance and clinches. Johnston is defending well against a takedown attempt. Cleveland jumps into guard, dragging Johnston to the mat.
Cleveland really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Johnston passes Cleveland's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Cleveland is looking to escape. Johnston is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Cleveland actively working from the bottom here.

Johnston in side control, just content to control the action for now. Cleveland tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Johnston presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Johnston stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Johnston throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cleveland was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnston finishes the takedown easily into guard. Cleveland wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johnston manages to pass to side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phil Johnston dominated that round. That's time! Cleveland's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Johnston decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Cleveland pushes Johnston off looking to stand but Johnston dives back in and keeps control.

Cleveland manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Johnston sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Cleveland defending well though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnston performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Cleveland looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Johnston pushes past his half guard into mount! Cleveland throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnston tries to control but Cleveland wriggling away. Cleveland tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and Johnston has taken his back. Johnston has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Cleveland's body.
Johnston lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK. Johnston is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cleveland breaks Johnston's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Phil Johnston has got the better of the ground game so far. Johnston is striking but Cleveland is not phased and passes to half guard. Cleveland looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Johnston gets full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnston has control of Cleveland's left arm, preventing Cleveland from doing any damage. Johnston looking for a guillotine here but Cleveland defends easily.
Cleveland throws an elbow that misses. Johnston uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cleveland's guard. Nice move by Johnston!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Cleveland keeping moving, preventing Johnston from controlling successfully. Cleveland working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Johnston. Cleveland looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Johnston trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cleveland isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Johnston stacks Cleveland on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Johnston! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Johnston controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phil Johnston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Johnston closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cleveland's guard. Cleveland has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Johnston has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Cleveland is fighting off a takedown attempt but Johnston is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cleveland to the mat. Cleveland regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Cleveland looking for a guillotine here but Johnston defends easily.
Johnston passes into half guard under a barage of strikes. Cleveland is striking from the bottom but he's now found himself mounted! Oh dear - not enough focus on defense there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnston controlling from mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnston blocks Cleveland's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Johnston throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
