The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Clemons tests Velasquez's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Clemons is defended easily by Velasquez.
Clemons darts in looking for a takedown but Velasquez gets double underhooks and turns Clemons into the cage.
Velasquez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Clemons shoots in for a double leg but Velasquez sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clemons closes the distance and clinches up with Velasquez, looking for a takedown. Clemons pushes Velasquez against the cage but Velasquez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Velasquez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Clemons defends it well.
Velasquez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Velasquez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Velasquez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Velasquez wants it to stay on the feet.
Velasquez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Clemons defends it well.
Velasquez leaves Clemons with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Velasquez is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Clemons closes the distance and pushes Velasquez back into the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Velasquez wants the takedown. Clemons is fighting it off but Velasquez persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Clemons's guard against the cage.
Velasquez lands a couple of elbows.
Clemons will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

It looks like Anderson Clemons has been cut.
Velasquez gets to his feet and stands over Clemons, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Clemons felt that one! Velasquez unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Clemons from any more punishment!
