Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Jimmie Connor (ranked 23066 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yayi Zinsou (ranked 3832 p4p, 452 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Jimmie Connor! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 1 losses; Yayi Zinsou! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Zinsou shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Connor (0) vs (2) Zinsou We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Zinsou passes to side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Connor (0) vs (5) Zinsou Zinsou is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Connor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Zinsou working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Zinsou advances nicely into full mount. Score +2 for reaching mount: Connor (0) vs (7) Zinsou Zinsou takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Zinsou looking for a guillotine from mount but Connor is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Connor holds of for dear life. Zinsou wants to finish this one by submission but Connor is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Zinsou.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Zinsou wants to work for an arm triangle but Connor is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight! Zinsou wins on points by 26 to 14. After the fight, Yayi Zinsou was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
