Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lars Borgvelt (ranked 1520 p4p, 241 weight class) and Don Petersen (ranked 2637 p4p, 394 weight class). Borgvelt comes to the cage accompanied by Techno Viking. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lars Borgvelt! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Don Petersen! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Peter Branson and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Borgvelt does it's job there. Petersen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Borgvelt.
Nice shot lands for Borgvelt.
Petersen is rocked! Petersen gets a double leg takedown into Borgvelt's guard. Petersen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Petersen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Borgvelt definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Petersen engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Borgvelt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Petersen on the ground. Borgvelt trying to keep a closed guard but Petersen is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Petersen passes Borgvelt's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petersen is nestled in close to Borgvelt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Petersen seems to be working for a kimura but Borgvelt defends the submission attempt. Petersen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Borgvelt sees it coming and defends easily. Petersen is looking to take a break and control but Borgvelt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Borgvelt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Petersen is working away from the top position though. Petersen is working for a submission of some sort.
Petersen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petersen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Petersen stalling. Borgvelt is staying active underneath Petersen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Petersen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Petersen missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Petersen passes the guard and advances to mount! Borgvelt is squirming around, avoiding Petersen's attempts to control the action. Petersen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Borgvelt keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Petersen is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Borgvelt is surviving well by controlling Petersen's body position as best he can. Petersen trying to control but he's not successful this time. Petersen has control of Borgvelt's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Borgvelt regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Petersen working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Borgvelt looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Petersen! Submission of the night perhaps?
