Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Glenn Williamson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Big Joe! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joe throws a front kick aimed at Williamson's knee but Williamson avoids it well. Williamson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Joe sprawls and moves away. Joe scores with a kick to the body.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Joe enables Williamson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Joe manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Williamson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Joe pulls Williamson in close to prevent any damage. Williamson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Williamson wants to pass the guard but Joe is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williamson is working hard here to advance position. Williamson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Williamson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Joe wants to sweep here but Williamson controlling him for the moment. Joe keeping moving, preventing Williamson from controlling successfully. Williamson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Joe manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Williamson has Joe in his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williamson pushes Joe off and scrambles back to his feet.

Joe misses with a straight left. Joe tried to score with a low kick but Williamson checks it. Williamson blocks a head kick by Joe.
Williamson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. The fight moves into the clinch position. Williamson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Williamson manages to end up in side control. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Williamson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Joe is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Williamson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williamson is trying to get an arm triangle but Joe is defending well. Williamson has an Americana. Joe didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Williamson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Williamson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Glenn Williamson!
