Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Blitz (ranked 6858 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lalli Venemies (ranked 4746 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lalli Venemies!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blitz tries to clinch but Venemies moves out of range.
Lalli Venemies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Venemies fails with a takedown attempt.
Blitz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Venemies manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Blitz throws a right and a left that Venemies avoids nicely.
Blitz throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Venemies's head.
Venemies has closed the distance and engaged Blitz in a clinch.
Venemies has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Blitz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Blitz is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Venemies is defending well for now.
Blitz throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Venemies blocks it with crossed arms.
Blitz manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Venemies is defended easily by Blitz.
John Blitz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lalli Venemies.
Venemies feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Blitz is trying to keep Venemies in close.
Venemies wants to control from the top but Blitz keeps moving.
Venemies drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Blitz manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Venemies has Blitz in his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Blitz trying to control but Venemies is working from the bottom.
Venemies looking for a guillotine here but Blitz defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Venemies is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Blitz frees his head nicely. Oh but Venemies has switched to an armbar! Blitz is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
