Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Arona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arona's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Ricardo Arona. Rua has chosen Shogun as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Arona! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Rua! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Arona throws a lazy head kick and Rua finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Rua misses with a kick to the body.
Arona with a lazy takedown attempt and Rua counters with a good, hard body kick but Arona shrugs it off. Arona with a lazy takedown attempt letting Rua counter with a right hand. A leg kick checked by Arona. Arona closes the distance and clinches up with Rua, looking for a takedown. Arona pushes Rua against the cage but Rua circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Arona. That's going to take a lot out of him. A chopping leg kick lands by Rua. Arona blocks a head kick by Rua.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Arona wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rua keeps working. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rua can do anything to dispel that myth. Rua wants to get back to his feet. Arona wants to control but Rua is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Arona is controlling him well. Arona could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Rua is looking for a sweep. Rua can't do much from the bottom here. Arona trying to control the action but Rua is working from the bottom.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
 Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rua is looking to clinch. An inside leg kick lands from Rua. Arona on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Rua. Rua obviously looking to wear him down.
Rua clinches up against the cage. Arona jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rua walks away with a smile on his face. Arona gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. The crowd are getting on Rua's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Arona ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Arona no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Rua tries to stand but Arona is controlling from the bottom.
Arona has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rua can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Rua really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arona. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Arona is breathing heavily. Arona has a closed guard, preventing Rua from standing up. Arona looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua wants to stand and escape but instead Arona has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Arona wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position. Rua is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Arona dives into side control.
Rua is trying to buck Arona off. Rua is being controlled here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mauricio Rua dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Rua counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rua. Arona tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rua just stands there and leans against the cage. Rua throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Arona blocks it with crossed arms. Arona avoiding damage as Rua throws knees to the body.
Arona tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rua smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Arona. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arona tries to clinch up and Rua counters with an outside leg kick.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Arona has his takedown stuffed and Rua counters with a good low kick that Arona was not able to check. Arona drops his hands momentarily and Rua takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Arona with a lazy takedown attempt and Rua counters with a low kick, right behind Arona 's knee. Arona tries to clinch but fails miserably and Rua counters with a good low kick that Arona was not able to check. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rua has closed the distance and engaged Arona in a clinch.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Arona goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rua prevents it.
The referee calls for Rua to work.
Rua receives a warning from the referee for stalling. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Mauricio Rua. Arona shoots in but doesn't get the takedown letting Rua counter with a right hand. Arona tries to clinch and Rua counters with a body kick. Good exchange - Rua coming out on top.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rua is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Rua crunches a lovely knee into Arona's ribcage. Rua unloads a knee to the mid-section. Arona lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Rua with a knee to the head.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Arona drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Rua gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Mauricio Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Arona misses with a takedown attempt - Rua sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Rua fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Arona. Arona tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Rua counters with a nice leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rua tries to clinch up but Arona circles away and keeps his distance.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Arona with a poor takedown and Rua counters with an inside leg kick. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Arona takes a kick to the side of the head. Rua misses with a low kick. Arona clinches but Rua breaks the clinch
and Rua counters by clinching up.

Rua wants to get up but he can't break Arona's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Arona is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rua wanted to stand there but Arona had control of the position.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua wants to stand and escape but instead Arona has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Mauricio Rua is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rua wants to stand but Arona is controlling the position.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
 The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Arona gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Rua counters with a good, hard body kick but Arona shrugs it off. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Arona. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua throws a head kick but Arona moves out of range.

Arona sitting in guard here, content to control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rua wants to stand but Arona is controlling the position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Mauricio Rua. I've got Rua winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
