Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Harvey Darvey (ranked 3504 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Boon (ranked 7106 p4p, 0 weight class). John Boon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Harvey Darvey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of The Island, John Boon! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Darvey. Darvey misses with a takedown attempt - Boon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Boon misses with a wild combination.
Darvey attempts a counter takedown but Boon avoids it well and moves away. Boon has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Darvey does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Boon lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Boon tries to bum rush Darvey with a series of wild strikes but Darvey uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Darvey shoots for a double leg takedown but Boon sprawls well. He's pushed Darvey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harvey Darvey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boon smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Darvey is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Boon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Darvey. Boon dodges the punch combination from Darvey.
John Boon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Darvey goes for a takedown in the clinch but Boon prevents it.
Darvey tries to pull guard but Boon holds him up against the cage and eventually Darvey drops back down to his feet.
Boon blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Darvey holding his opponent close, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Boon throws a right hand that Darvey ducks under and follows up with a left that Darvey also avoids with ease. Darvey shoots in looking for a takedown but Boon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Darvey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Boon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Darvey. Boon lands a jab-cross combination. Darvey looks to land a left hand but Boon moved out of range nicely. Darvey moves into the clinch. Darvey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Boon feints a jab promting Darvey to slip. Boon then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Darvey slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Boon throws a right and a left that both miss. Darvey has closed the distance and engaged Boon in a clinch.
Darvey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Darvey clinches up with Boon and pushes him back against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Darvey stalling against the cage.
Darvey manages to break the clinch.
Boon scores with a one two! Darvey had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Darvey uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Boon. Boon lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Boon looks winded! Boon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Darvey. Darvey takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Darvey misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Darvey pushes Boon up against the cage in a clinch. Darvey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Darvey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boon paws at him with a jab and circles away. Despite the aggression on Boon's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Darvey misses with a low kick. A combination from Boon does no damage. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Boon keeps the fight on the outside. Boon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Darvey drops down looking for a counter takedown but Boon sprawls and moves away. Boon feints a jab promting Darvey to slip. Boon then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Boon throws a right and a left that Darvey avoids nicely. Darvey lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Boon swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Darvey counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Darvey dives in and grabs Boon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Boon pushes down on Darvey's head and hops out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Boon dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Darvey throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Darvey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Darvey throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Boon was covering up waiting for the punch and Darvey finishes the takedown easily into guard. Darvey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Boon works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Darvey trying to control but Boon is working from the bottom. Boon wants to sweep here but Darvey controlling him for the moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Darvey with a flurry of punches that miss. Boon is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Darvey stands and steps away. Boon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Boon fails to land with a series of punches.

He's got his arms around Boon's waist but Boon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Darvey off to one side. Boon looks to land a combination but Darvey avoids it well. A combination from Boon does no damage. Darvey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Boon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Darvey moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Darvey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boon paws at him with a jab and circles away. Boon steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Darvey. Darvey closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Boon to the mat! Boon manages to get full guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Darvey showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boon is working an open guard so Darvey takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Darvey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boon paws at him with a jab and circles away. Darvey moves in looking to clinch but Boon pushes him off. Darvey gets a takedown into half guard. Darvey throwing shots but Boon is blocking nicely. Darvey is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Darvey in particular looking to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Darvey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boon is just riding it out for now. Darvey eventually gives up the hold. Darvey thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Darvey takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but John Boon will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Darvey sets himself, and Boon steps forward looking for the clinch! Darvey avoids it this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Harvey Darvey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Darvey tries to clinch up but Boon circles away and keeps his distance. Darvey dives in for a single leg takedown but Boon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Boon lands a slapping body shot.
Boon has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Boon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Darvey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Boon but Boon pushes him off and we're back to square one. Darvey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Darvey tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Boon defends well and Darvey ends up having to push Boon into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Boon is looking for the big counter here. Boon throws a body shot but no joy. Boon swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Darvey with a poor takedown and Boon counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Harvey Darvey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boon gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Darvey to score an easy takedown into full guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Darvey sitting in guard here, content to control. Darvey throws a big elbow that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Darvey not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Boon looking to control.
Boon is working an open guard so Darvey takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Boon swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. No luck for Darvey with that takedown attempt. Boon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Darvey. John Boon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boon throws an overhand right that lands on Darvey's shoulder, as Darvey tries to avoid the shot. Boon stalks Darvey and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Darvey's face. Darvey staggers backwards, shaken.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Darvey shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Boon napping and manages to drive through into side control! Darvey in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Darvey working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Boon is looking to reverse the position. Darvey just content to control the position. Boon is looking for a sweep.
And that's the end of the fight! John Boon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Boon winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
