Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jason Tolevski (ranked 4565 p4p, 220 weight class) and Rex Ruger (ranked 23084 p4p, 444 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jason Tolevski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rex Ruger!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tolevski throws a head kick that misses.
Tolevski looks to clinch

and Ruger counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tolevski is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ruger's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ruger's back!
Tolevski keeps control of the position as Ruger tries to break free.

Tolevski tightening his grip on Ruger, looking for the choke.
Tolevski is trying to stick to Ruger's back but Ruger is turning into Tolevski. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Tolevski's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ruger.
Tolevski looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ruger throws an elbow that misses. Tolevski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ruger's guard. Nice move by Tolevski!

Ruger wants to sweep here but Tolevski controlling him for the moment.

Ruger is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Tolevski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tolevski stands and throws Ruger's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Tolevski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ruger keeps working.
Tolevski is really struggling to control Ruger but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Tolevski tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruger struggling a bit here.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ruger tries to escape but Tolevski is in control.
Ruger sneaks back into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tolevski wants to control but Ruger is keeping him busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ruger can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ruger looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Tolevski winds up and cracks Ruger with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tolevski is stalling here. Ruger is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Tolevski seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Ruger has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Tolevski is trying to get back to half guard.

Tolevski is trying to control Ruger's posture but Ruger avoids it.
Ruger throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Tolevski works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Ruger looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Tolevski is positioning himself well to prevent Ruger advancing to mount.
Ruger drops an elbow to the side of Tolevski's head.

Tolevski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruger is working away from the top position though.
Ruger working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Tolevski is trying to stand.
Tolevski is looking to control Ruger's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tolevski avoid being mounted?
Ruger trying to control from half guard but Tolevski is working away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ruger lands with a punch from half guard.
Ruger is trying to control. Tolevski wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rex Ruger will probably get the nod.

Ruger changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tolevski tries to avoid it but Ruger manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tolevski to the ground. Tolevski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ruger gets caught napping as Tolevski dives in and scores a takedown. Ruger manages to retain guard.
Ruger is adopting a defensive guard.

Tolevski stands up from Ruger's guard - Tolevski perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tolevski lands with a nice combination. Ruger backs away looking to recover.
Ruger tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tolevski swivels and escapes.
Ruger thumps Tolevski with a low kick.

Tolevski slips under a jab from Ruger.
No luck for Ruger with that takedown attempt.
Tolevski tries to counter with a takedown but Ruger is quick to defend against it.
Jason Tolevski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Ruger.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tolevski enables Ruger to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tolevski manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Tolevski pushes Ruger off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Jason Tolevski is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ruger fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tolevski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Ruger defending well as Tolevski loads up on a big left hand.
Ruger shoots in for a takedown but Tolevski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tolevski appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Sloppy strikes from Tolevski. Those never looked like landing.

Ruger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tolevski sprawls well initially but Ruger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tolevski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruger is working away from the top position though.

Ruger seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Tolevski lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.
Tolevski is looking for a sweep. Ruger is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tolevski trying to hold on to Ruger's head to control him but Ruger postures up.
Ruger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tolevski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ruger looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Tolevski avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ruger.
Tolevski is trying to stand up here but Ruger is controlling him well.
Ruger is nestled in close to Tolevski, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Tolevski tries to kick Ruger off but Ruger keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Rex Ruger has got the better of the ground game so far.
Tolevski regains full guard. Nicely done.
Ruger content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Tolevski is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ruger defends well.
Ruger chips away with some ground and pound.
Ruger trying to control the position from guard on top but Tolevski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tolevski has momentary wrist control but Ruger slips an elbow through the middle.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ruger scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ruger lands some shots froms side control.


Tolevski is rocked!
Tolevski wants to control but Ruger postures up.
Oh Tolevski is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ruger in side control lands a decent elbow.
Ruger lands a strong strike to the head of Tolevski. That's dazed him! Ruger looking to finish here. Tolevski is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Ruger lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rex Ruger!
