PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bjorg Hrjinski (ranked 8698 p4p, 728 weight class) and Francisco Junior (ranked 4523 p4p, 513 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Francisco Junior!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Junior closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hrjinski quickly recovers to half guard.

Junior is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hrjinski sees it coming and defends easily.
Junior prevents Hrjinski from improving his position.
Junior is trying to control the action in half guard but Hrjinski is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Hrjinski won't allow Junior to pass to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Junior wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hrjinski keeps working.
Hrjinski moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Hrjinski will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Junior thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Junior is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hrjinski has escaped the position, nice work there.

Junior is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hrjinski knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Junior stands and throws Hrjinski's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Hrjinski is trying to control Junior's posture but Junior avoids it.

Junior is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hrjinski is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Junior goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hrjinski rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Junior's guard! Nice work there by Hrjinski!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hrjinski gets caught napping as Junior dives in and scores a takedown. Hrjinski manages to retain guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Junior slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Junior advances nicely into full mount.

Junior is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hrjinski has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hrjinski!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hrjinski looks to land a strike but Junior avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Junior has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hrjinski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hrjinski wants to control from the top but Junior keeps moving.
Francisco Junior has got the better of the ground game so far.
Junior wants to sweep here but Hrjinski controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Junior thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Junior gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hrjinski to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hrjinski postures up in Junior's guard and throws a big left but Junior blocks it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Francisco Junior will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Junior uses his free foot to push down on Hrjinski's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hrjinski.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Hrjinski is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Junior has hold of Hrjinski's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hrjinski manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Junior is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Junior extends the arm and Hrjinski is forced to tap!
