Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Giannos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Rome!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giannos throws a sloppy head kick and Rome moves out of range easily.
A countering left hand to the body from Rome misses.
George Giannos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Giannos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Giannos wants to clinch.
Rome avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

and Rome counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giannos tries to kick Rome off but Rome keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Giannos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Giannos tries to lock up and control but Rome gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Jake Rome dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Giannos tries to clinch up.
A nice side step and Rome releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Giannos tries to close the distance and clinch but Rome swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rome flicks out a counter leg kick but Giannos steps away.

Giannos rushes Rome and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Rome has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Giannos manages to break the clinch.
A nice combination there by Giannos.

Giannos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rome can't do much from the bottom here.
Rome holds on to Giannos's head and controls the position momentarily.

Rome regains half guard.
Rome is positioning himself well to prevent Giannos advancing to mount.
Rome is continuing to stall.
Giannos tries to stand and escape but Rome is controlling the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Giannos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rome did well to prevent Giannos getting side control.

Giannos is looking to take a break and control but Rome is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rome holds on and takes a little breather.

Rome has a closed guard, preventing Giannos from standing up.

Giannos drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rome dives on top into guard.

Giannos wants to sweep here but Rome controlling him for the moment.
Jake Rome has got the better of the ground game so far.
Giannos wants to control the position but Rome says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Giannos is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Rome is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Giannos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Rome is not content to let Giannos control the position.

Rome is fighting off a takedown attempt but Giannos is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rome to the mat. Rome regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
