Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alfred Carver (ranked 10137 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Kidman (ranked 8430 p4p, 0 weight class). Kidman has chosen You Can Run as his entrance music. Billy Kidman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alfred Carver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Kidman! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carver shoots for a takedown but Kidman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kidman has taken the fight to the clinch.
Kidman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Carver avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Carver tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kidman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kidman's coach down at Spar Bros was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kidman's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Carver gets tackled into the cage by Kidman. Kidman maintains the clinch. Kidman tries to pull guard but Carver forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Kidman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carver manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kidman on his heels. He'll look to pass Kidman's guard now, I'm sure. Kidman has a closed guard, preventing Carver from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carver controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Carver has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kidman is proving hard to escape from. Carver postures up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Kidman has a closed guard, preventing Carver from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kidman looks winded!
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kidman drives through and clinches with Carver against the cage.
Kidman swings wildly with an uppercut but Carver uses good head movement to avoid it. Carver is trying to pull guard but Kidman turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfred Carver. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carver pulls Kidman into guard.
Carver has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Carver keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carver has his hands on Kidman's head, controlling the position. Kidman tries to free his leg and advance position but Carver is retaining full guard. Carver wants to sweep but no luck. Carver throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kidman escapes and throws Carver's legs to the side, diving into side control! Carver wants to get back to his feet but Kidman drags him back down. Kidman throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Carver works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Carver moves into full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carver looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kidman is one step ahead there. Kidman trying to control the position from guard on top but Carver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carver wants to sweep here but Kidman controlling him for the moment. Carver is pulling down on Kidman's head. It's preventing any offense from Kidman, at least for the moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Carver's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Billy Kidman will probably get the nod. That's time! Carver's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Kidman fails with a takedown attempt. Carver half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Kidman fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Horrible takedown attempt by Carver or perhaps it was just good defense by Kidman, which made it look bad. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kidman has Carver up against the cage in a clinch.
Kidman is breathing heavily. Kidman goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kidman breaks the clinch.
Carver looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kidman is fending him off so far but Carver persists. Nope, Kidman circles away and we're back to standing. Kidman counters with a body kick. Carver shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kidman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Carver wants to get up but he can't break Kidman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Carver tries to free his leg and advance position but Kidman is retaining full guard. Carver gets to his feet - Kidman follows without any prompting. Kidman throws a sloppy head kick and Carver moves out of range easily. Kidman drives through and clinches with Carver against the cage.
Carver fails to pull guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alfred Carver. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carver jumps guard but Kidman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Carver gets control of Kidman's arms and successfully pulls guard. Carver will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Carver has his hands on Kidman's head, controlling the position. Carver working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kidman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kidman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Carver has a closed guard, preventing Kidman from standing up. Carver had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kidman defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kidman wants to control from the top but Carver keeps moving. Carver seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Kidman trying to control but Carver is working from the bottom. Carver bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kidman's guard. Carver controlling from the top position. Alfred Carver overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Carver is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Kidman to keep the fight standing. Kidman has had enough of the clinch but Carver keeps him there for the moment. Carver jumps guard but Kidman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Kidman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Carver prevents the takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carver manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Carver controlling the position. Kidman preventing the sweep. Carver controlling the position. Kidman trying to control the position from guard on top but Carver is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carver has his hands on Kidman's head, controlling the position. Carver wants to stand and escape but Kidman is having none of it. Carver is looking for a triangle but Kidman pushes his legs off easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carver is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kidman working for submissions but it's allowed Carver to get to half guard.
Carver could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Carver controlling the action here. Kidman is trying to control but Carver passes into side control!
Carver is trying to get an arm triangle but Kidman is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carver decides to stand back up. Carver steps back and let's Kidman get back to his feet. Carver dives in and scores a takedown into Kidman's guard. Carver is working Kidman over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Carver sitting in guard here, content to control. Carver seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kidman for as long as he can get away with.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carver is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Kidman is looking to sweep but instead, Carver has passed into half guard.
Carver decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Carver closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kidman did well to prevent Carver getting side control. Kidman is trying to escape back to his feet but Carver uses the scramble to pass into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! Billy Kidman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
