The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Lou da Vinci and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcpherson shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


It looks like Kerry Mcpherson has been cut.
Strummer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mcpherson counters with a one-two to the body.
Strummer pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Mcpherson counters with a series of strikes. Strummer will be more careful next time no doubt.

Mcpherson gets caught napping as Strummer dives in and scores a takedown. Mcpherson manages to retain guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mcpherson has his foot on Strummer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Strummer works his way back into a safe position though.
Mcpherson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mcpherson connects with a nice short shot to Strummer's temple.

Strummer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Strummer fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mcpherson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Strummer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcpherson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Strummer shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mcpherson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Mcpherson has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Strummer has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Mcpherson jumps guard but Strummer stands there with Mcpherson around his waist. Mcpherson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Strummer manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Mcpherson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strummer's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Strummer duly obliges.
