Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James Adler (ranked 6687 p4p, 530 weight class) and Anthony Davidson (ranked 8171 p4p, 582 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Adler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anthony Davidson! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adler throws a head kick that half lands.
Davidson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Adler goes for a double leg but Davidson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Davidson continues to drive forward. Davidson drives through and clinches with Adler against the cage.

Davidson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Adler manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Adler being controlled here, momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Adler is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Davidson postures up in Adler's guard and throws a big left but Adler blocks it. Adler on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Adler tries to get out of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Davidson won't allow Adler to sweep him here. Adler throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Davidson shoots for a double leg takedown but Adler sprawls well. He's pushed Davidson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Davidson slips a jab from Adler. Davidson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Adler, pushing him back against the cage. Adler has had enough of the clinch but Davidson keeps him there for the moment. Adler changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davidson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Adler tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Davidson smiles and moves away.

Davidson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Adler shoots and misses letting Davidson counter with a right hand. Davidson misses with a takedown attempt - Adler sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Adler dives in for a single leg takedown but Davidson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Adler is really struggling to control Davidson but he's trying to hold on to the position. Adler throws an elbow that misses. Davidson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Adler's guard. Nice move by Davidson!

Adler knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davidson on the ground. Davidson has knee on belly and moves into mount. Davidson prevents Adler from getting the reversal. Davidson content just to control the position here. Davidson lands with some strikes. Adler tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davidson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Adler is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Adler and Davidson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Adler is looking to reverse the position. Adler can't do much from the bottom here. Adler takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Davidson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Adler is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Davidson has just dragged him back down to the mat. Davidson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Adler is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Davidson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Adler's shoulder. That is not cool.

Anthony Davidson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Adler is fighting to maintain full guard but Davidson has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that's the end of the fight! Anthony Davidson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Davidson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
