Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Huy Zalupa (ranked 6461 p4p, 664 weight class) and Bucky Breepinyete (ranked 7001 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Huy Zalupa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bucky Breepinyete!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Ben Watson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zalupa throws a nice head kick!

Zalupa moves into range and clinches up with Breepinyete.
Breepinyete jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Zalupa walks away with a smile on his face. Breepinyete gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Zalupa moves into the clinch successfully.
Zalupa stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Zalupa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Zalupa lands with a kick to the temple. Breepinyete shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Zalupa goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Breepinyete gets a double leg takedown into Zalupa's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Zalupa is looking to stand up but Breepinyete isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Breepinyete stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zalupa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Breepinyete prevents Zalupa from getting back to his feet.
Breepinyete works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Breepinyete stops Zalupa from getting back to his feet.

Zalupa is defending against the submission attempts here by Breepinyete.
Breepinyete is looking to advance position but Zalupa won't allow it.
Breepinyete seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zalupa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Breepinyete wants to pass the guard but Zalupa is defending well.
Breepinyete takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Breepinyete wants to pass to mount but Zalupa is defending the position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Breepinyete has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Breepinyete takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Breepinyete takes Zalupa's back.

Breepinyete is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Zalupa knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Zalupa for a finish.

Zalupa manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.

Breepinyete looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Zalupa seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Zalupa has Breepinyete up against the cage in a clinch.
Breepinyete is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Zalupa pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Zalupa really is a fat lump.
Breepinyete jumps guard but Zalupa turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Breepinyete is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Breepinyete is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Zalupa to keep the fight standing.

Zalupa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Breepinyete tries to clinch up but Zalupa circles away and keeps his distance.
Zalupa lands a jab to Breepinyete's midsection.

and Zalupa counters with a thumping low kick.
Breepinyete slaps away a takedown attempt from Zalupa, before circling back to the center of the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zalupa connects with a high kick.
Breepinyete fails with a takedown attempt.
Zalupa fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Huy Zalupa dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Breepinyete shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Breepinyete was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Breepinyete is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Zalupa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Breepinyete is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Zalupa has escaped the position, nice work there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Breepinyete decides to stand back up. Breepinyete steps back and let's Zalupa get back to his feet.

Breepinyete rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Zalupa counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Breepinyete fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Zalupa gets tackled into the cage by Breepinyete. Breepinyete maintains the clinch.
Breepinyete wants to take the fight to the mat but Zalupa manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Huy Zalupa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bucky Breepinyete.
Breepinyete tries to score a body lock takedown but Zalupa shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Zalupa lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Breepinyete backs up against the cage.
Breepinyete looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zalupa is fending him off so far but Breepinyete persists. Nope, Zalupa circles away and we're back to standing.

Breepinyete goes for a takedown attempt but Zalupa pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Zalupa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Breepinyete swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Breepinyete shoots for a double leg takedown but Zalupa sprawls well. He's pushed Breepinyete's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Zalupa lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Breepinyete goes for a takedown in the clinch but Zalupa prevents it.
Breepinyete is looking for a takedown.
Breepinyete keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Zalupa's efforts to push away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Breepinyete can do anything to dispel that myth.

Zalupa is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Breepinyete can do to turn this around?

Zalupa is really struggling to control Breepinyete but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Breepinyete is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Breepinyete working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zalupa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zalupa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Zalupa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Breepinyete seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Breepinyete escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zalupa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Breepinyete has a closed guard, preventing Zalupa from standing up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Zalupa postures up in Breepinyete's guard and throws a big left but Breepinyete blocks it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Bucky Breepinyete.
I think Zalupa has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
