PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Red Brophy (ranked 159 p4p, 17 weight class) and Brent Boston (ranked 234 p4p, 26 weight class). Brophy's entrance music is JME - The Very Best. A fine choice. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Red Brophy! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brent Boston! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boston throws a nice looking combination but Brophy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Boston clinches with his opponent.
Brophy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boston has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Brophy is landing a low percentage of strikes. Brophy tries to move into range but Boston moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Nice body kick there by Brophy. Brophy with a jab. Brophy throws a hook to the side of Boston's head but Boston sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Boston let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boston misses with a lunging right hand
and Boston takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Brophy bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Brophy avoids the body shot from Boston.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boston jabs at Brophy's body. Brophy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Boston stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Boston moves out of range of the strikes. Boston looks to score with a jab to the body but Brophy is just out of range. Red Brophy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Brophy takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A shot to the body from Boston misses and Brophy counters with a stiff right hand. Good work by Boston as he checks the leg kick. Brophy chopping away at his opponent's legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brophy drops Boston with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Boston looks back up at him and smiles so Brophy waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Boston walks straight into a right hand from Brophy - that's dropped him! Brophy jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Boston from any more punishment! Boston complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Red Brophy! Red Brophy retains his heavyweight title! A very excited looking Red Brophy made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
