Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anton Touchard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Rome! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Touchard throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rome tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Touchard is in Rome's guard. Touchard wants to pass the guard but Rome is keeping the position. Touchard is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Touchard wants to control from the top but Rome keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Touchard is fighting to break Rome's control of his arms but Rome is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Touchard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rome is keeping the position for now.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Touchard gets a takedown into half guard. Touchard is keen to just control but Rome is a slippery customer. Rome is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rome can do anything to dispel that myth. Rome is staying active underneath Touchard, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Touchard looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Touchard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Touchard thows a huge punch but Rome dodges it nicely.
Touchard is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Touchard trying to control from half guard but Rome is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Touchard dives in and scores a takedown into Rome's guard. Rome really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Touchard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rome has his hands on Touchard's head, controlling the position.

Rome is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Touchard working for a triangle but Rome defends it easily.

Touchard is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rome is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Rome engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Touchard controls Rome momentarily but Rome frees himself. Rome not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Rome appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Touchard throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Touchard had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rome defends it easily. Rome got a little sloppy there for a moment and Touchard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rome has managed to get both his arms back between Touchard's legs - danger averted. Touchard throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rome seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rome uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Touchard. Excellent takedown into side control there by Touchard. Rome is not content to let Touchard control the position. Rome slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Rome keeping moving, preventing Touchard from controlling successfully. Touchard looking to sit in guard and control but Rome gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Touchard is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight! Anton Touchard showed his dominance in that final round. Well Touchard has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
