Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Gavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cole Gavin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Santos!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gavin shoots for a double leg takedown but Santos sprawls well. He's pushed Gavin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gavin looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Santos checks a leg kick.
Santos lands with a kick to the temple. Gavin shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


It looks like Cole Gavin has been cut.
Santos doesn't manage to clinch there - Gavin circles away.
Santos tries for a takedown but Gavin circles away easily
and Gavin counters with a head kick. That will keep Santos thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Gavin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Gavin wants to get back to striking at distance but Santos won't allow it.

Santos breaks from the clinch.

Santos clinches up against the cage.
The is referee keeping an eye on Santos - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Santos should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Santos misses with a takedown attempt

and Gavin counters with a single leg into guard. Santos didn't expect that.
Santos wants to stand up but Gavin is controlling him.
Gavin trying to control but Santos is working from the bottom.

Santos scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Gavin slips a straight right by Santos.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Gavin!
Santos is looking to clinch.
No joy there for Gavin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gavin blocks a head kick by Santos.

Santos moves out of range of the leg kick from Gavin.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gavin is looking to break free of the clinch but Santos has double underhooks.

Santos pulls guard.
Gavin wants to get up but he can't break Santos's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Gavin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Santos wants to sweep here but Gavin controlling him for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gavin manages to get himself to full guard.
Gavin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Santos.
Santos wants to control from the top but Gavin keeps moving.

Santos gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Gavin tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Santos counters by moving into the clinch.
Santos lands an elbow just above Gavin 's eye.

Santos has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gavin is trying to keep an underhook but Santos manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gavin throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Santos keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Gavin is trying to maintain the position but Santos is very close to passing his half guard.
Gavin is looking to get back to is feet but Santos passes into side control.

Santos lands some shots froms side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gavin closes the distance but Santos moves to the side

and Santos counters by moving into the clinch.
Santos tries a knee to the head but Gavin blocks it.
Knees to the body from Santos.

Santos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A jab from Santos does it's job there.
Santos pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gavin lands with a right hand.

Santos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gavin's guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gavin keeping full guard, as Santos tries to pass.
Santos trying to control but Gavin is working from the bottom.
Gavin is pulling down on Santos's head. It's preventing any offense from Santos, at least for the moment.
Gavin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Santos not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Santos won't allow Gavin to sweep him here.
Santos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Gavin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Santos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gavin avoids the head kick by Santos.
Santos fails in his attempt to clinch.
Santos closes the distance but Gavin moves to the side

and Gavin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Santos's guard.

Santos is controlling Gavin's posture.
Jay Santos has got the better of the ground game so far.

Santos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gavin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gavin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gavin prevents Santos from getting back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gavin passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Gavin working the ground and pound but Santos is defending the strikes.
Santos manages to get back to half guard.
Santos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gavin is working away from the top position though.
Santos won't allow Gavin to pass to mount.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gavin connects with a nice short shot to Santos's temple.
Gavin prevents Santos from standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cole Gavin will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Santos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Santos doesn't manage to clinch there - Gavin circles away.
Gavin throws a head kick but Santos moves out of range.

and Gavin counters with a takedown into side control.

Gavin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santos knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Gavin prevents Santos from escaping the position.
Santos is not content to let Gavin control the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Santos pushes Gavin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gavin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Santos trying his best to control but Gavin has mounted him.
Gavin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Santos can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gavin is landing with some decent strikes but Santos is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Santos has given up his back here.
Santos just trying to survive but Gavin is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Santos manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Santos closes the distance and clinches up with Gavin, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes Gavin against the cage but Gavin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Santos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Santos trying to control the action but Gavin is working from the bottom.

Gavin kicks Santos off and gets back to his feet.

Santos drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Gavin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Santos stands up.
Gavin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Santos stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cole Gavin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Santos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gavin wants to sweep but no luck.

Gavin is working an open guard so Santos takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cole Gavin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Santos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Well Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
