Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Devin Witt (ranked 8493 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Terry (ranked 6481 p4p, 0 weight class). John Terry will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Devin Witt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Terry!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Terry scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Witt is not content to let Terry control the position.
Well, if Terry is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Witt keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Witt tries to kick Terry off but Terry keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Witt is fighting off a takedown attempt but Terry is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Witt to the mat. Witt regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Terry scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Terry missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Terry postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Terry wanted to stand there but Witt had control of the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Witt bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Terry's head.
Nice uppercut lands for Witt. That snapped Terry's head back.
Terry throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Witt.
Witt dives in for a single leg takedown but Terry sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Witt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Witt lands in his opponent's guard.
Terry is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Witt throws a big right hand that misses.
Terry thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Terry is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Terry dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Witt slips a jab and a cross from Terry.
Witt shoots in looking for a takedown but Terry manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Witt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And Terry tries to counter it with a takedown but Witt pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Terry throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Terry slips a jab from Witt.

Witt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Witt wants to get back to his feet but Terry passes into half guard.
John Terry has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Terry wants to control but Witt is keeping him busy.

Terry thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Witt's head.
Terry seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Witt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Witt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Terry pulls his head out easily.

Witt has one foot on Terry's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Terry changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Witt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Terry throwing shots but Witt is blocking nicely.
Witt avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Terry.
Terry is taking a breather. Witt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Terry is looking to stall here but Witt recovers full guard.
Terry trying to control but Witt is working from the bottom.
Terry's corner is telling him to maintain position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Terry accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Terry is working Witt over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Terry wants to control from the top but Witt keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Terry closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Witt did well to prevent Terry getting side control.
Terry is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Terry has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Terry decides to stand and escape the position.

Witt pushes Terry away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Terry gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Witt avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Terry.
Terry misses with the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Terry wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Witt, who protects the arm well.
Witt is trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Terry showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Terry wants to control from the top but Witt keeps moving.

Terry decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Witt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Terry tries to counter with a clinch but Witt shakes him off and moves away.

Terry throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Witt counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Witt is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Terry has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Witt is looking to defend but Terry has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Witt! Terry pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Witt taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Terry!
