Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Giovanni Fertit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Aruba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fertit's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, O Fortuna. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Giovanni Fertit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Aruba!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fertit closes the distance and clinches up with Aruba, looking for a takedown. Fertit pushes Aruba against the cage but Aruba circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fertit has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Aruba finds it's way round the side to connect with Fertit's head.
Fertit looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Fertit is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Aruba looking for submissions off his back.
Aruba is looking to control Fertit's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Aruba avoid being mounted?
Fertit seems to be working for a kimura but Aruba defends the submission attempt.
Fertit throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Fertit is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Aruba is just riding it out for now. Fertit eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Fertit is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Aruba wants to control but Fertit is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fertit seems to be looking for submissions.
Fertit looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Aruba manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Fertit working over Aruba with some ground and pound. Aruba looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Fertit is nestled in close to Aruba, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Fertit takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Fertit shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Fertit looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Fertit has control of Aruba's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Aruba regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Fertit goes for an armbar but Aruba turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Aruba.
Aruba pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fertit is keeping the position for now.
Aruba wants to control from the top but Fertit keeps moving.

Fertit looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Fertit has his foot on Aruba's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aruba works his way back into a safe position though.
Aruba is sitting in close to Fertit's body. Fertit has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Aruba is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Aruba is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fertit.
