Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Kennedy (ranked 9334 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duke Ditch (ranked 25739 p4p, 0 weight class). Duke Ditch looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruno Kennedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Duke Ditch!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ditch showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kennedy.
Ditch looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Kennedy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kennedy stands up from Ditch's guard - Kennedy perhaps looking for a knockout.

Kennedy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kennedy is looking for a kimura here.
Ground and pound from Kennedy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ditch has hold of Kennedy's hands but Kennedy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Kennedy decides to stand and escape the position.
Ditch shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kennedy counters with a one-two to the body.
Kennedy sizes up Ditch with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kennedy.
Ditch changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kennedy tries to avoid it but Ditch manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kennedy to the ground. Kennedy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kennedy closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ditch to the mat! Ditch manages to get full guard.
Kennedy is standing up over Ditch. Ditch looks to escape but Kennedy dives into side control.

Kennedy stands up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kennedy drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kennedy lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Kennedy is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Kennedy lands a couple of elbows.

Kennedy stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Kennedy shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ditch napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Kennedy decides to stand back up.

Kennedy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kennedy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ditch takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We've been informed that Ditch has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Kennedy lands a nice forearm strike.
Kennedy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kennedy tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kennedy has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kennedy cracks Ditch with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Kennedy decides to stand back up. Kennedy steps back and let's Ditch get back to his feet.
Kennedy throws a head kick that misses.

Kennedy moves into the clinch.

Kennedy breaks the clinch.

Kennedy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ditch's guard.
Ditch wants to get back to his feet but Kennedy passes into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kennedy is taking a breather. Ditch says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kennedy drops an elbow to the side of Ditch's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kennedy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ditch has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Kennedy dodges the punch combination from Ditch.
Ditch tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kennedy swivels and escapes.
Kennedy changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Ditch gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ditch is looking to stand back up but Kennedy counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Ditch.

Ditch is breathing heavily.

Kennedy working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kennedy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kennedy lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Ditch taking punishment in the form of punches.
Kennedy lands some shots froms side control.
Ditch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kennedy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kennedy stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Bruno Kennedy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kennedy slips a nice elbow through Ditch's hands, connecting with Ditch's forehead.

Ditch on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Kennedy passes into side control, despite Ditch's attempt to control the position.

Despite being in a bad position, Kennedy is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.
Kennedy tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Kennedy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ditch can do to turn this around?
Kennedy sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kennedy manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kennedy is on top in guard.

Kennedy stands up over Ditch, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Kennedy bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kennedy stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Ditch's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kennedy connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ditch scrambles back to his feet.
Ditch keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Kennedy decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Ditch pushes Kennedy off but Kennedy dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ditch takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kennedy scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ditch to see if he's OK.

Kennedy decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kennedy, right into the meat.
Ditch is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Kennedy.
Kennedy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ditch has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kennedy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kennedy is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ditch to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ditch shrugs it off.
Ditch is still in real trouble! Can Kennedy finish him?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Well Kennedy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
