Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Micah Hays! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
30 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Henley! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hays shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Hays keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Henley. Hays avoids the head kick by Henley.
Nice shot lands for Hays. Hays swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Henley with the counter takedown but Hays avoids it easily. Hays looks to land a combination. Henley sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Hays takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

enabling Henley to counter with a crisp jab. Henley takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Hays throws a body punch but Henley moves out of range. Henley swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Hays scores with a shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hays fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Henley manages to avoid it. Henley drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Hays defends it well. Hays tries to close the distance and clinch up but Henley swats him away and circles back towards the center. And Henley responds with a good body kick, but Hays manages to step out the way in time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hays tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Henley was well out of range. Poor timing from Hays. Henley changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Hays rushes Henley and presses him up against the cage. Henley pushes Hays back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Stalling in the clinch from Henley.
Hays pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hays tries to close the distance and clinch but Henley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Henley looks like he wants to counter punch here. A swing and a miss from Hays. Henley misses with a wild body shot. A punch combination from Hays misses. Hays lands a two punch combo.
Hays is looking to wear down Henley with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Hays tries to clinch but Henley is having none of it. Henley tries a quick counter leg kick but Hays is wise to it. Hays fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Hays wants to clinch up but Henley keeps it at a distance. A punch lands to the side of Henley 's head but he takes it in his stride.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hays throws a sloppy head kick and Henley counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Micah Hays seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hays throws a right and a left that both miss. Henley is looking for the big counter here. Nice body punch from Henley. Hays misses with a head kick.

The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. A head punch blocked on the inside by Hays. Henley is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Hays doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Hays escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Henley walks into a stiff left hand from Hays. Henley uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Hays has time to react. Hays is looking to clinch. Henley feints a counter leg kick. Hays throws a predictable looking body shot
and Henley cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Henley throws a looping overhand right but Hays ducks down to avoid it. Hays looks to land a left hand but Henley moved out of range nicely. Despite the aggression on Henley's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Hays closes the distance and clinches. Henley tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Hays tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Hays tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Henley's elbow. Henley misses with a shot to the kidneys.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hays connects with a leg kick. Henley looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Hays tries a head kick but it misses.
Hays takes a swing at Henley's ribcage but misses. Henley has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hays. Henley has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hays scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Henley tries to land a front kick but Hays steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Hays throws a sloppy head kick and Henley counters with a low kick, right behind Hays 's knee. Hays is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Good exchange - Henley coming out on top. Hays tries to clinch up but Henley circles away and keeps his distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henley tries to work over Hays's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Hays lands a hook that snaps the head of Henley backwards. Hays lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Henley misses with a body punch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Henley tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Henley jumps into guard, dragging Hays to the mat.
Henley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hays defends it easily. Henley controls Hays momentarily but Hays frees himself. We've been hearing good reports from Hays's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's one minute gone in the round. Henley pulls Hays in close to prevent any damage. Henley looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hays has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hays looking to pass the guard. Hays working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Henley is controlling Hays's posture. Henley controls Hays momentarily but Hays frees himself. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Henley misses with an uppercut. Henley misses with an uppercut. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Henley.
Micah Hays is winning the standup battle so far. Hays lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Hays moves in looking to clinch but Henley pushes him off. Henley counters with a body kick. Hays lunges at Henley with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Henley's hand. Sloppy strikes from Hays. Those never looked like landing. Hays tries to clinch but fails miserably and Henley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hays throws the left hand but Henley avoids the punch easily. Hays tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. And Henley tries to counter it with a takedown but Hays pushes his down on his head and steps out. Henley walks into a jab. Henley blocks a head kick by Hays.

Hays smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Hays jabs Henley to the body, keeping him at a distance. Henley throws a body shot but no joy. Micah Hays dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Henley takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Hays takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Hays misses with a shot to the body and Hays takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Hays tries to work over Henley's front leg with a kick but Henley checks it. Hays ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Hays walks into a stiff left hand from Henley. Henley has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Henley there as he acknowledges the shot. Nice defenses there by Henley. Henley replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Hays blocks it well. Hays lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Hays counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Hays will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Henley with a nice head shot there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Henley stops Hays from standing up. Henley landing some decent shots from guard. Henley is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Micah Hays is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jab from Hays. Henley waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hays. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hays. Henley is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Ben Henley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hays pushes Henley up against the cage in a clinch. Hays throws a head punch that misses. Henley tries to work over Hays's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Still in the clinch, Hays scores with a nice short uppercut.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Micah Hays. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hays, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
