Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kampatimar Shankariya (ranked 2262 p4p, 74 weight class) and Kevin Shinnie (ranked 2940 p4p, 97 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kampatimar Shankariya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Shinnie!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shankariya shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shinnie sprawls well. Shinnie wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shankariya gets slowly back to his feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shinnie. Shankariya does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shankariya closes the distance and clinches up with Shinnie, looking for a takedown. Shankariya pushes Shinnie against the cage but Shinnie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shinnie appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Shankariya uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shinnie.
As Shinnie looks to move away, Shankariya throws a big counter combo but Shinnie just gets out of the way.

Shankariya throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shinnie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Shankariya is in Shinnie's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shinnie pulls Shankariya in close to prevent any damage.
Shankariya missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Shankariya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shinnie swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shankariya has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shankariya trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Shankariya throws a big elbow that misses.
Shankariya postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Shankariya will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shankariya trying to control the position from guard on top but Shinnie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shinnie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shankariya works over Shinnie with some ground and pound from guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shinnie can do anything to dispel that myth.

Shankariya in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Shinnie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shankariya wants to pass the guard but Shinnie is keeping the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Shinnie seems keen to control Shankariya's posture.
Shankariya missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Shankariya throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Shinnie works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Shankariya wants to control from the top but Shinnie keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Shinnie misses with a kick to the body.
It looked like Shankariya was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Shinnie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shankariya.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kampatimar Shankariya. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shankariya drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Shinnie parries the strikes from Shankariya easily there. Shankariya is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Shinnie to escape.
Shinnie is looking for a sweep.
Shankariya scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Shinnie to see if he's OK.
Shinnie is looking to regain half guard here but Shankariya keeps moving and retains side control.

Shankariya looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Shinnie is avoiding damage well.
Shankariya postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Shinnie is trying to control Shankariya's posture but Shankariya avoids it.
Shinnie is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Shankariya is staying active.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shinnie takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.


It looks like Kevin Shinnie has been cut.
Shankariya working the ground and pound but Shinnie is defending the strikes.
Shankariya misses with the ground and pound.
Shinnie taking a bit of punishment here - Shankariya scoring with strikes.
Shankariya throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Shankariya in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Shankariya is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Shinnie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shankariya wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shankariya misses with the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kampatimar Shankariya dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kevin Shinnie's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Shankariya fails to land the takedown.
Shinnie slips a jab and a cross from Shankariya.
Shinnie throws a hook but Shankariya avoids it easily.
Shankariya shoots in for a double leg but Shinnie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Shinnie has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Shankariya gets in close and tags Shinnie with a short punch that almost sends Shinnie to the mat! Oh Shinnie is in big trouble! He turns his back on Shankariya, trying to create some distance but Shankariya rushes him, striking wildly and Shinnie goes down! The referee tackles Shankariya into the cage to end the fight! Shankariya is one violent man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kampatimar Shankariya!
In his post fight interview, Kampatimar Shankariya started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
