The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The Blitz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McHough's guard. The Blitz passes McHough's right leg, so he's now in half guard. McHough is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McHough can do anything to dispel that myth. McHough is not content to let The Blitz control the position. McHough felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The Blitz wants to take a breather but McHough is having none of it. The Blitz is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McHough sees it coming and defends easily. The Blitz works his foot free and advances to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McHough wants to hold on but The Blitz pushes him away. The Blitz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McHough to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McHough shrugs it off. The Blitz content just to control the position here. McHough defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from The Blitz. McHough really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Blitz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The Blitz working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. McHough turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips The Blitz off and cradles McHough's limp body as The Blitz celebrates with his corner.
