Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Griffin (ranked 23452 p4p, 838 weight class) and Commander Shepard (ranked 5936 p4p, 661 weight class). Griffin comes to the cage accompanied by Medicate - Flaw. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Shepard counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Griffin!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Griffin is looking to regain half guard here but Shepard keeps moving and retains side control.
Griffin misses with an elbow from the bottom.
Griffin manages to work his way to half guard, despite Shepard's best efforts.
Griffin flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Shepard lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Griffin is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shepard seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Griffin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Griffin is looking for a sweep. Shepard is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Shepard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Griffin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Shepard keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Griffin's head.

Griffin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Griffin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shepard's guard.
Griffin postures up in Shepard's guard and throws a big left but Shepard blocks it.

Shepard felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shepard can do anything to dispel that myth.

Griffin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shepard dives on top into guard.

Shepard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Griffin keeps working.

That was a close round but I would say that Shawn Griffin will probably get the nod.

Shepard ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Griffin moves away.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Shepard checks a leg kick.
Griffin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Horrible takedown attempt by Shepard or perhaps it was just good defense by Griffin, which made it look bad.
Griffin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Shepard stands up out of Griffin's guard for a moment - Griffin manages to land a nice upkick.

Griffin has momentary wrist control but Shepard slips an elbow through the middle.

Commander Shepard has got the better of the ground game so far.
Griffin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Commander Shepard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

I would just about give that final round to Commander Shepard.
I think Shepard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
