The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Phan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Belo just content to control the position.
Belo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Phan for as long as he can get away with.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Filipe Belo just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Belo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Phan is in trouble now - Belo has advanced to mount!

Phan is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Phan stops Belo from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Belo has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Phan! Can he survive? No! He's out! Belo gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
