Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rupert Whiston!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chip Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan misses with a double jab.
Ryan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Whiston swivels and escapes.
Ryan takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Whiston lands a nice shot that snaps Ryan's head back.
Whiston looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ryan shoots in but no luck this time.
An attempted straight right counter from Whiston misses the target.
Whiston feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ryans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Whiston scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ryan moves in looking to clinch but Whiston pushes him off.
Whiston lands a glancing blow to the side of Ryan's head.
Whiston works the jab nicely.

Whiston drops Ryan with a right and a left! Whiston comes rushing in but Ryan regains his composure and manages to keep Whiston in guard.


Ryan is rocked!
Whiston slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ryan is still in real trouble! Can Whiston finish him?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whiston passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Whiston definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Ryan is letting Whiston control him for a moment.
Ryan seems to have recovered his senses.
Ryan struggling a bit here.
Whiston slows the pace down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whiston's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Whiston continues to stall.
Ryan is looking for a sweep.
Whiston controlling the position from side mount.
Whiston has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Further stalling from Whiston.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ryan is looking to regain half guard here but Whiston keeps moving and retains side control.
Whiston controls the position.
Ryan is pushing Whiston's head away, looking to escape. Whiston manages to hold on to the position though.
Ryan being controlled for a moment.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Whiston is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Ryan is looking for a sweep.
Whiston controlling the position.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Whiston.

More hug and hope from Whiston.
Ryan is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Whiston has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Whiston stuffs the takedown attempt from Ryan. Ryan gets slowly back to his feet.
Whiston seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Rupert Whiston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chip Ryan.
Ryan tries for a takedown but Whiston circles away easily
and Whiston counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ryan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Whiston uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ryan has time to react.

Ryan has his takedown stuffed
and Whiston counters with a straight right hand.
Ryan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Whiston swivels and escapes.
Ryan looks winded!
Whiston connects with a body shot.
Whiston connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Ryan tumbling to the canvas! Whiston pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Ryan was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Rupert Whiston!
Chip Ryan was interviewed post fight and said 'Next time I'll come back, stronger, faster and better and show the world that Chip Ryan doesn't stay down'.
