Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pekko Wannanen (ranked 797 p4p, 88 weight class) and Harold Shipman (ranked 1218 p4p, 135 weight class). Shipman has chosen Amazing as his entrance music. Pekko Wannanen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pekko Wannanen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harold Shipman!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shipman tries to clinch but Wannanen is having none of it.
Wannanen lands an overhand right.


It looks like Harold Shipman has been cut.
Wannanen misses with a looping right.
Wannanen connects with a right hand. Shipman shakes it off.

Shipman closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Shipman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Shipman postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Wannanen is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Sloppy strikes there by Shipman.
Shipman misses with the ground and pound.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Shipman working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Wannanen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shipman on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shipman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Wannanen sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Wannanen is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Shipman wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wannanen, who protects the arm well.

Wannanen is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wannanen is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Wannanen's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Shipman swings around for an armbar but Wannanen sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Shipman's guard.
Wannanen wants to stand but Shipman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Shipman looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Wannanen is defending well. Shipman quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Wannanen has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Shipman celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Harold Shipman!
Harold Shipman thanked the fans post fight for their support.
In defeat, Pekko Wannanen stepped up to the mic, saying 'That motherfucker got lucky man! I will crush him in a rematch!!'.
