Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mujahid Jackson (ranked 6820 p4p, 702 weight class) and Wasabi Leon (ranked 7811 p4p, 743 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mujahid Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wasabi Leon!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leon scores with a kick to the body.
Leon dodges the punch combination from Jackson.
Leon shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily.

Jackson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Leon's half guard.

Leon kicks Jackson off and gets back to his feet.

Jackson has managed to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackson wants to break free but Leon has control.
Leon goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jackson prevents it.
Jackson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Jackson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Leon is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jackson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Leon to the mat. Leon regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Leon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Leon or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson, which made it look bad.
Leon shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackson but Jackson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Jackson counters with a shoot takedown. Leon fights it but they end up in guard.
Jackson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Leon controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.
Jackson lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Jackson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Horrible takedown attempt by Leon or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson, which made it look bad.

Wasabi Leon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Leon shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackson tries to sprawl out of it but Leon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Leon on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Jackson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jackson wants to pass to mount but Leon is defending the position.

Jackson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Leon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jackson.

Mujahid Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Jackson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Leon is just riding it out for now. Jackson eventually gives up the hold.

Jackson wants to control the pace but Leon is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mujahid Jackson spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
