Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Digo Maha! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo moves into the clinch successfully.
Maha jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Aldo walks away with a smile on his face. Maha gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Aldo fails in his attempt to clinch. Maha avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Maha ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aldo moves away. Aldo wants to clinch up but Maha keeps it at a distance. Aldo rushes Maha and presses him up against the cage. Maha gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Aldo.
Maha jumps guard but Aldo stands there with Maha around his waist. Maha gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Maha tries to pull guard but Aldo won't allow it.
Jose Aldo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Digo Maha. Aldo tries a knee to the head but Maha blocks it.
Aldo throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Maha blocks it with crossed arms. Maha is looking for a takedown up against the cage. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

The fight stays on the outside here - Aldo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Maha has closed the distance and engaged Aldo in a clinch.

Maha has a closed guard, preventing Aldo from standing up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Maha not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Aldo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Aldo wants to clinch and Maha counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Aldo! Aldo wants to get back to his feet.
Maha goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Aldo turns into him and now he's in Maha's guard.

Digo Maha dominated that round. That's time! Aldo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Aldo misses with a knee strike.

Maha gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Maha content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Maha looking to sit in guard and control but Aldo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Maha throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Maha manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Aldo tries to close the distance and clinch but Maha swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Aldo blocks a head kick by Maha.
Maha shoots in for a double leg but Aldo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Aldo tries to clinch there but Maha circles away.
Maha throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Aldo. Maha moves into range and clinches up with Aldo. A quick uppercut on the inside from Aldo. Aldo lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Aldo clinches but Maha breaks the clinch and Maha counters with a head kick. That will keep Aldo thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Maha closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Aldo to the mat! Aldo manages to get full guard. Aldo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Maha is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maha gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Aldo wants to clinch but Maha slips to the side and Maha counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Maha stands up and beckons Aldo to join him on the feet. Aldo darts in trying to clinch and Maha counters by moving into the clinch. Aldo scores with a shot to the side of Maha's head. Maha blocks a punch to the side of the head.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Maha escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aldo tries to clinch but fails miserably and Maha holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maha wants a takedown.
Maha is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Aldo can't fight it off and eventually Maha manages to take the fight to the floor. Aldo looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Maha with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Digo Maha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Maha drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aldo pulls his leg out and moves away.
Aldo closes the distance looking to clinch and Maha counters with a nice double leg into side control. Aldo won't be happy with that. Aldo is trying to buck Maha off. Maha wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aldo keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maha might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Aldo kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Aldo pushes Maha away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Maha gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Aldo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Aldo is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Maha off and has taken his back!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aldo keeps control of the position as Maha tries to break free.
Aldo wants to control but Maha is keeping busy. Aldo throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Aldo is looking to control Maha but Maha is wriggling around and keeping busy. What can Maha do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Maha turns into Aldo and is now in his guard.
Aldo is working an open guard so Maha takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Maha closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aldo circles away. Aldo wants to clinch but Maha slips to the side and Maha counters with a shoot takedown. Aldo fights it but they end up in guard. Maha wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving. Maha is looking to work some ground and pound but Aldo has wrist control. Maha tries to stand but Aldo is controlling from the bottom. Jose Aldo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Digo Maha is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Maha wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving.
And that's the end of the fight! Digo Maha comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Maha has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
