Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Doug MacKenzie!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacKenzie misses with a series of wild punches.

Pearson moves into the clinch.

MacKenzie has clasped his hands together around Pearson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
MacKenzie in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Pearson defending against the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MacKenzie controls the position.
MacKenzie wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pearson keeps working.

Pearson wants to control but MacKenzie postures up.
Pearson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
MacKenzie wants to control but Pearson is keeping him busy.
MacKenzie wants to stand but Pearson has his arm trapped.
MacKenzie tries to move to full mount but Pearson actually manages to regain half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pearson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
MacKenzie controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

MacKenzie drives through with a takedown into guard.
MacKenzie looking to sit in guard and control but Pearson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

MacKenzie wants to get back to his feet but Pearson passes into half guard.

MacKenzie tries to roll over but Pearson keeps him under control.
MacKenzie manages to get to full guard.

MacKenzie has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pearson has passed into side control.
Pearson is putting a hurting on MacKenzie here, landing some big shots from side control.

MacKenzie wants to control but Pearson postures up.
Pearson slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by MacKenzie.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
MacKenzie is trying to reverse the position but instead Pearson has taken his back - oops!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pearson has good solid back control here.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



MacKenzie clinches.

MacKenzie manages to break the clinch.

Pearson gets caught flat footed, as MacKenzie shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
MacKenzie throws a big elbow that misses.
MacKenzie trying to control but Pearson is working from the bottom.
Pearson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in MacKenzie's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pearson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

MacKenzie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pearson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

MacKenzie preventing the sweep.
Pearson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Walton Pearson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
MacKenzie loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
MacKenzie wants to stand and escape but instead Pearson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
MacKenzie is wriggling around but Pearson manages to pass to half guard.
MacKenzie scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Pearson manages to mount him!

Pearson has hold of MacKenzie's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and MacKenzie manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
MacKenzie wants to control but Pearson is having none of it.
MacKenzie is looking to improve his position but Pearson isn't that keen on the idea.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
MacKenzie is just holding on here. Pearson manages to take his back.
MacKenzie tries to escape but Pearson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Pearson is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but MacKenzie has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Pearson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pearson is not going to allow MacKenzie to sit and survive in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pearson is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. MacKenzie knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften MacKenzie for a finish.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pearson is hanging on to MacKenzie's back as he tries to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Pearson looks to throw a body kick
and MacKenzie counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Excellent takedown into side control there by MacKenzie.
MacKenzie with the ground and pound but Pearson regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
MacKenzie is pressing down on Pearson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pearson is holding on for now.
MacKenzie thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

MacKenzie perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
MacKenzie is trying to control. Pearson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

MacKenzie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pearson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in MacKenzie's guard.


Pearson drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Pearson seems to have locked his on tight now - MacKenzie screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Pearson, as he picks up the win!
