Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vlad Halen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Steve Crush!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crush wants to clinch up but Halen keeps it at a distance.
Crush misses with a leg kick.
Halen went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Crush showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Halen.
Halen has closed the distance and engaged Crush in a clinch.
Crush tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Crush throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Halen blocks it with crossed arms.
Halen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crush finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
It looked like Halen was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Halen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Halen paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Crush shoots in looking for a takedown. Halen tries to sprawl out of it but Crush keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Halen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Crush tries a low kick but Halen avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Halen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Halen lands with a nice body punch.
Halen fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Crush looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Crush shoots in for a takedown but Halen shows good takedown defense.
Halen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Crush taking a bit of punishment here - Halen scoring with strikes.
Halen lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Halen lands some shots froms side control.
Crush is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Crush wants to control but Halen postures up.
Crush is still in real trouble! Can Halen finish him?
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Halen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Crush down.
Halen cracks Crush with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Halen immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Crush is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Halen!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vlad Halen!
