Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wayde West (ranked 2534 p4p, 358 weight class) and Avila Alvarez (ranked 2339 p4p, 344 weight class). West comes to the cage accompanied by Sober. Alvarez has chosen Barbarian by The Darkness as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wayde West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Avila Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West misses with a body shot.
Alvarez throws a head kick that misses.
Alvarez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alvarez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

West tries to sprawl but Alvarez drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Alvarez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but West sees it coming and defends easily.

West is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Alvarez is defending well though. West let's go of the attempt for now.

Alvarez is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
West is trying to stick to Alvarez's back but Alvarez is turning into West. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in West's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Alvarez.

Alvarez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alvarez stands up over West, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Alvarez is working West over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

West got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alvarez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, West has managed to get both his arms back between Alvarez's legs - danger averted.

Alvarez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and West defends well.
West is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

West darts in looking for a takedown but Alvarez gets double underhooks and turns West into the cage.
No joy there for Alvarez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
West went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

West is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

In his post fight interview, Wayde West started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
In defeat, Avila Alvarez stepped up to the mic, saying 'I'm so pissed, man. I trained so hard for this camp too.'.
