Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Isaias Espinoza (ranked 6510 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bart Hickenbottom (ranked 6453 p4p, 700 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bart Hickenbottom!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Franklyn Lucas and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Espinoza rushes Hickenbottom and presses him up against the cage.
Espinoza manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Hickenbottom jumps guard but Espinoza turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Espinoza is trying to trip Hickenbottom. He has hold of a leg but Hickenbottom is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Espinoza persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Espinoza stands up from Hickenbottom's guard - Espinoza perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hickenbottom misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Espinoza went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hickenbottom closes this distance looking for a takedown but Espinoza circles away.

Hickenbottom wants to free his trapped foot but Espinoza is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Hickenbottom is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Espinoza has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Espinoza!

Hickenbottom has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Espinoza is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Espinoza gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Espinoza closes the distance and clinches.

Espinoza has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Hickenbottom regains guard immediately.
Espinoza works over Hickenbottom with some ground and pound from guard.

Espinoza avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hickenbottom has momentary wrist control but Espinoza slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hickenbottom wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hickenbottom shoots in and drives through. Espinoza sprawls well.
It looked like Espinoza was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Hickenbottom is breathing heavily.

Espinoza shoots in and bounces Hickenbottom off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Espinoza seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Espinoza stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hickenbottom to get to his feet.

Espinoza shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Espinoza was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Hickenbottom looks to move to half guard but instead Espinoza has passed into mount! Damn!

Espinoza lands a couple of good shots and Hickenbottom has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Hickenbottom goes for a double leg but Espinoza avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Espinoza continues to drive forward.

Espinoza closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Espinoza is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hickenbottom can do to turn this around?

Espinoza is nestled in close to Hickenbottom, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hickenbottom looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Espinoza has picked Hickenbottom up and slammed him! Hickenbottom can't keep hold of the triangle and Espinoza manages to pass to side control!

Hickenbottom is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well Espinoza has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
