Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sasha Downdin (ranked 4149 p4p, 529 weight class) and Ronald Washington (ranked 3788 p4p, 483 weight class). The key to victory for Sasha Downdin has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sasha Downdin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ronald Washington! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Downdin throws a nice inside leg kick. Washington with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Downdin to score with a decent uppercut.
It looks like Ronald Washington has been cut. Downdin throws a looping overhand right but Washington ducks down to avoid it. Downdin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Downdin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sasha Downdin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Washington swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Washington throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Downdin dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Washington. That did some damage! Downdin lands a front kick. Downdin scores with a push kick. Washington's coach down at The Island Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Washington's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Washington darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Washington seems to be looking for submissions.
Washington working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Washington slips a nice elbow through Downdin's hands, connecting with Downdin's forehead. Downdin is looking for a sweep. Washington is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Washington thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Downdin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Washington is nestled in close to Downdin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Washington is keen to just control but Downdin is a slippery customer. Washington is looking for a kimura here.
Downdin looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Washington scoring with strikes to the body and head. Washington working the head and body with strikes. Washington scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Downdin kicks off Washington and gets to his feet.

Downdin throws a series of punches but Washington moves out of range. Washington fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Washington shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Nice strikes from Washington there. Washington lands with a punch from half guard. Washington looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Downdin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Washington working Downdin over with strikes. Washington throwing shots but Downdin is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Washington sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Downdin defending well though. Washington thows a huge punch but Downdin dodges it nicely.

Washington not landing any meaningful shots this time. Downdin tries to roll over but Washington keeps him under control. Downdin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Washington. Washington is looking for a kimura but Downdin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Washington to get the leverage. Washington has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Washington scoring with strikes to the body and head. Washington is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Downdin is just riding it out for now. Washington eventually gives up the hold. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Washington rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Downdin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Downdin thinks about countering with a body kick. Washington doesn't succeed with the takedown and Downdin makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Washington ducks under a wild hook from Downdin. Washington moves forwards but Downdin connects with a nice, crisp jab. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Downdin.
Washington works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Washington is defended easily by Downdin. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Washington has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Downdin. Downdin missing with a left hand there. Washington was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Washington has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Downdin. Downdin bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Washington's head. Downdin lands a jab to the nose. Downdin throws a nice inside leg kick. Ronald Washington is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Downdin thows a body kick. Washington tries to catch it but that hurt him. Washington shoots in and bounces Downdin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Downdin has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Washington is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Downdin manages to pull guard.

Washington throws a big right hand that misses. Washington scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Downdin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Washington on the ground. Washington scoring with punches to the head and body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Sasha Downdin will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Ronald Washington's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Downdin feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Washingtons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Washington shoots in and drives through. Downdin sprawls well. Downdin fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Downdin scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Downdin throws a body kick that misses. Washington appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Downdin lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Washington falls backwards - clearly groggy! Downdin dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sasha Downdin! A relieved looking Sasha Downdin thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
