Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mathew Fields (ranked 7656 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Beckham (ranked 6447 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill Beckham will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bill Beckham!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beckham closes the distance and clinches.
Fields throws an elbow that misses.
Beckham wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Beckham tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Fields creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Fields is trying to pull guard but Beckham turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mathew Fields has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Beckham.

Fields will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fields is in close to Beckham's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Fields got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beckham has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fields has managed to get both his arms back between Beckham's legs - danger averted.

Beckham escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Fields gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Fields enables Beckham to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fields manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fields gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Beckham regains guard.
Fields is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Fields seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Beckham for as long as he can get away with.
Beckham has momentary wrist control but Fields slips an elbow through the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beckham is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Mathew Fields will probably get the nod.

Beckham has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Fields avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Beckham gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Fields.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Come on Fields - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Beckham pushes off an throws an elbow but Fields leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Fields wants to take the fight to the mat but Beckham manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Fields has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Beckham uses from the top position.
Fields tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Beckham won't allow Fields to get back to his feet.
Mathew Fields overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Beckham must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Beckham sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fields's guard.
Beckham is trying to control the action in half guard but Fields is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Fields wants to get back to his feet.
Fields moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Fields wants to stand and escape but Beckham is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

It looks like Mathew Fields has been cut.
Beckham lands with a thumping leg kick.
Oh Fields is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Beckham shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Beckham slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Beckham lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Bill Beckham!
