Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lao Shin (ranked 15 p4p, 2 weight class) and Musta Laine (ranked 129 p4p, 18 weight class). Shin comes to the cage accompanied by Shaolin Chamber of Death. Laine has chosen Disturbed - Sound of Silence as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
31 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Lao Shin! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Musta Laine! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shin loads up on a big right hand but Laine slips the punch. Laine misses with a jab to the body
enabling Shin to counter with a crisp jab. Shin throws a hook to the side of Laine's head but Laine sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Laine throws a head kick but Shin moves out of range.
Shin connects with a looping right hand.

Shin throwing a counter right hand but Laine manages to avoid it. Shin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Laine. Laine flicks out a counter leg kick but Shin steps away. Laine ducks under a wild hook from Shin. Laine tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Laine, as that shot connected.
Laine misses with an uppercut
and Shin counters with a left to the body. Shin throws a jab but it's blocked by Laine. Laine pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Shin looks to land a left hand but Laine moved out of range nicely. Shin checks a low kick from Laine. Laine checks a leg kick. Nice uppercut lands for Laine. That snapped Shin's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good exchange - Laine coming out on top. Shin avoids the body shot from Laine.
Laine is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shin's half guard. Shin trying to control from the bottom.
Shin is refusing to be controlled, as Laine sits in half guard. Laine landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Shin is staying active underneath Laine, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shin taking some punishment here, with Laine in his half guard.

Shin is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Dr Hatsumi's Clinic, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Laine passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Shin! Shin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Shin slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Laine throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Shin is looking to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shin is working hard here to advance position. Shin is doing well to control the position and prevent Laine from advancing to side control. Laine working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Shin has hold of Laine's hands but Laine slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Shin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Laine's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Laine's back! Laine is really stuck here.

Shin is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Laine defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Shin doesn't have the hooks in and Laine manages to turn into his guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shin looking for a sweep. Not yet Shin, not yet. Shin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Laine keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shin's head. Laine stands and throws Shin's legs to the side, diving into side control. Shin tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Laine works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Musta Laine dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Shin misses with an attempted mid kick.
Shin bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Laine throws a head kick but Shin moves out of range.
Shin throws a lazy right hand but Laine sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Laine manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Shin on his heels. He'll look to pass Shin's guard now, I'm sure. Laine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Laine seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Musta Laine has got the better of the ground game so far. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Laine lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Laine missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Laine makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Shin trying to control the position.
Laine's corner is telling him to maintain position. Shin seems keen to control Laine's posture. Laine cracks Shin with a solid left hand. Shin can't keep his opponent in guard - Laine advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Laine throws a strike but Shin avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laine postures up and lands a big shot to Shin's brow. Shin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Shin looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Shin struggling a bit here. Shin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Laine wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Shin taking a bit of punishment here - Laine scoring with strikes. Laine has knee on belly momentarily but Shin bucks him off and regains half guard. Shin tries to get to full guard but Laine has control of the leg. Laine is keen to just control but Shin is a slippery customer. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Shin tries to get to full guard but Laine has control of the leg. Shin keeping control of the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Musta Laine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Shin throws a wild body kick that Laine sees coming a mile off. Shin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Laine misses with a leg kick. Shin slips a jab from Laine. Laine feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Shins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Laine has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Laine throws a half hearted mid kick. Laine tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shin swivels and escapes. Shin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Laine throws a right hand that misses
and Shin counters with a left to the body. Shin stuns Laine with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laine misses with a straight right. Laine tries to land a leg kick but Shin saw it coming and moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shin connects with a solid leg kick. Laine lands a leg kick that knocks Shin off balance momentarily. Laine misses with a body shot.
An attempted straight right counter from Shin misses the target. Laine with a hook. Laine looking to score a takedown here. Shin is defending well but Laine drives through and ends up in Shin's guard. Shin lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Shin wants to pass the guard but Laine is keeping the position. Laine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shin is aware though and is defending well. Laine wants to sweep but no luck. Laine keeping full guard, as Shin tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shin looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Shin passes Laine's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Shin works his way into side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Laine is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Laine is looking for a sweep. Laine felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laine is not content to let Shin control the position. Shin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Laine has escaped the position, nice work there. Laine manages to get back to half guard. Laine wants to get back to full guard. Shin tries to pass to full mount but Laine defends it. Laine is trying to maintain the position but Shin is very close to passing his half guard. Shin tries to pass to full mount but Laine defends it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Shin is looking to take a break and control but Laine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Shin stalling away here and it's allowed Laine to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Laine keeping moving, preventing Shin from controlling successfully. A close third round but Musta Laine just about did enough to take it. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Laine scores with a jab. Shin acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Laine blocks a leg kick. Shin takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Shin uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Laine. Shin throws the kick towards the body but Laine avoids it. Laine moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Musta Laine seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Laine swings for the body but Shin moves out of range.
Laine looks to land a left hand but Shin moved out of range nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Laine. Laine throws out a leg kick but Shin moves out of range and Laine only half commits. Shin scores with a shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Laine. Shin defending well as Laine loads up on a big left hand. Laine uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shin. A little jabbing left from Laine on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Laine uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shin. Shin backing away here, and Laine unleashes a leg kick that just misses. A chopping leg kick lands by Laine. Shin closes the distance and lands a one-two. Laine throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Shin misses with a hook

That's two minutes gone in the round. Laine working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Laine postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. This has been an exciting period of action! Shin looking to control.
Laine content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Shin pulls Laine in close to prevent any damage. Shin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Laine is one step ahead there. Shin keeping moving, preventing Laine from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laine looking to pass the guard. Shin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Laine forces his way into half guard. Laine drops an elbow to the side of Shin's head. Shin keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Laine landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Shin looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Shin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Laine is working away from the top position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laine working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Laine throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Laine looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Shin won't allow Laine to pass to mount. Shin is pressing down on Laine's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Laine postures up and lands a big shot to Shin's brow. Laine content to stall in guard here. Shin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Musta Laine dominated that fourth round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Laine throws the kick towards the body but Shin avoids it. Shin throws a body shot but no joy. Laine misses with a low kick as Shin jumps back. Shin throws a jab when Laine was well out of range. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laine shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Shin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Laine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Laine sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Laine is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Lao Shin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Laine working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Laine is looking to work some ground and pound but Shin has wrist control. Shin looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Laine trying to control but Shin is working from the bottom. Shin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Laine thows a body kick. Shin tries to catch it but that hurt him. Laine throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Laine throws a leg kick that misses. Laine pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laine turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Shin on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

and Laine takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Laine misses with a low kick. Laine throws out a loose jab but Shin uses good head movement to avoid it. Laine on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Laine looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Shin! Shin is looking to reverse the position. Shin can't do much from the bottom here. Laine landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Shin regains half guard. Laine takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Laine slips a nice elbow through Shin's hands, connecting with Shin's forehead. Laine moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Shin. Shin tries to buck Laine off but Laine is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Musta Laine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Laine has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Musta Laine! Musta Laine is the new welterweight champion! In his post fight interview, Musta Laine started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
