PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between TJ Myson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garth Roosevelt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, TJ Myson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Garth Roosevelt!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myson fails with the takedown.
Roosevelt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Myson swats away the attempt to clinch by Roosevelt.
Roosevelt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Myson but Myson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Myson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roosevelt tries to avoid it but Myson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roosevelt to the ground. Roosevelt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roosevelt is looking to clinch.
Myson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Myson.

Myson controls Roosevelt momentarily but Roosevelt frees himself.

Roosevelt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Myson is proving hard to escape from.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Myson is breathing heavily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Myson swats away the attempt to clinch by Roosevelt.
Myson closes the distance and clinches up with Roosevelt, looking for a takedown. Myson pushes Roosevelt against the cage but Roosevelt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Roosevelt tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Myson gets the takedown into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roosevelt is trying to improve his position.
Roosevelt wants to get back to his feet but Myson drags him back down.

Myson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Roosevelt throws a nice head kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Garth Roosevelt will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on TJ Myson's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Roosevelt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Roosevelt wants to get back to his feet but Myson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Myson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Myson swats away the attempt to clinch by Roosevelt.
Myson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Roosevelt's waist but Roosevelt gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Myson off to one side.
Myson tries to clinch up
and Roosevelt counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Roosevelt looks at the referee who does nothing so Roosevelt lands a crushing right that sends Myson to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Garth Roosevelt!
