Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clay Mercer (ranked 2529 p4p, 342 weight class) and Emet Golem (ranked 5047 p4p, 572 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Golem connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mercer connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Golem momentarily.
Mercer drops his hands momentarily and Golem takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Golem rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mercer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
It looked like Mercer was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Golem.
Golem bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mercer's head.
Golem lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

I was talking to Mercer's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mercer has momentary wrist control but Golem slips an elbow through the middle.
My spies in Rabid Dog inform me that Golem has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
