Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leonardo Filho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Zaretski!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zaretski moves into the clinch.

Zaretski gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Filho regains guard.
Zaretski trying to control the position from guard on top but Filho is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Filho throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Filho looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Filho is looking for a triangle here but Zaretski uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Zaretski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Filho knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Zaretski is trying to get an arm triangle but Filho is defending well.
Zaretski connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Filho some visible discomfort.

Zaretski tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Filho tries to buck Zaretski off but Zaretski is having none of it.
Zaretski taking a break here but Filho is having none of it and regains half guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Zaretski lands with a punch from half guard.

Zaretski is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Filho has managed to free his arm - good work.
Filho is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nice strikes from Zaretski there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Filho is trying to stand up here but Zaretski is controlling him well.

Zaretski is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Filho sees it coming and defends easily.
Filho is breathing heavily.
Filho looks like he's trying to stand up.

Ground and pound from Zaretski.
Zaretski working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Zaretski is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Zaretski is looking for a kimura but Filho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Zaretski to get the leverage.
Zaretski moves nicely into side control.

Zaretski goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Filho rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Zaretski's guard! Nice work there by Filho!

Zaretski working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Filho has passed into half guard!
Zaretski is trying to get back to full guard.

Zaretski moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Filho looking to pass the guard.
Filho would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Zaretski tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Zaretski looking for a guillotine here but Filho defends easily.
Filho makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Zaretski dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zaretski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Filho circles away quickly and effectively.
Leonardo Filho is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Filho lands with a kick to the temple. Zaretski shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A nice combination there by Filho.
Zaretski blocks a head kick by Filho.
Filho misses with a head kick.
Zaretski avoids the head kick by Filho.
Zaretski looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Filho rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Zaretski moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Leonardo Filho seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Zaretski looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Filho misses with a series of wild punches.

Zaretski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Filho circles away.
A combination from Filho does no damage.
Filho tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Filho tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Zaretski swivels and escapes.
Zaretski takes a kick to the side of the head.
Filho shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zaretski pinned against the cage. Zaretski gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Some wild striking there from Zaretski.
Filho moves out of range of the body kick from Zaretski.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Filho throws a nice looking combination but Zaretski bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Zaretski scores a takedown into full mount!
Steve Zaretski has got the better of the ground game so far.
Zaretski lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Zaretski is landing with some decent strikes but Filho is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Filho can't escape the position.
Zaretski landing strikes, looking to finish!
Filho is trying to escape the mount.
Zaretski landing punches.
Filho is bucking up trying to escape but Zaretski cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Zaretski has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Zaretski has isolated one of Filho's arms. Filho looking to fight him off but Zaretski twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
